    Hi all.

Looking to acquire a specific 98 F355 F1 that is in somewhat neglected condition. Presently, it is not engaging in ANY forward or reverse gear.

I’ve seen the threads that remind owners to ensure hoods are latched / doors are shut / brake pedals are pressed. I’m hoping it is something simple like this… perhaps a sensor on one of the latches.

In the reasonable likelihood that the problem is more severe / involved, is there a shop that is trusted for competence and honesty in LA that has performed work on a known F355 F1 with excellent results?

As I understand it, they need an SD/SD2 tool to properly diagnose the faulty F1.

Alternatively, if someone has access to a manual conversion kit or the associated parts, I see that Fast Cars did a great job with @Tarek307s GTS conversion.

    Thanks in advance.

You are a brave man! This can get very expensive, very, very fast. Not to dissuade you but there are a lot of very nice 355's out there for sale that don't need a rescue. If the gearbox is neglected, it's a safe bet the engine is probably the same which is also a very expensive proposition as well. Then there is the steering rack, headers, suspension, etc., etc.

Wish I had better news because I love the 355 (still think it's one of the best looking Ferrari's and my first Ferrari) but it is one of the more expensive models to maintain, let alone fix.

Best of luck and I wish you the best.

F& M Motorsports fixed very tricky problems with my '98F1. They are honest, too. Highly recommended.

No such thing as a cheap ferrari. Guiseppe @ F&M was great. Now the cars just sit there and rot! Nothing gets done

I’m taking my 328 to F&M tomorrow. You haven’t had a good experience there?

I haven’t had a good experience with Giuseppe since the 90s. I like Gustavo from Modena Motorsports. Pm me for the info

Raffi with R2 Motorsports in Santa Clarita. Only shop I’ve needed for my 98 355 F1. He’s even built his own 355 from ground up. Knows the car backwards.
