The date on that article says may 6, since then and quite possibly earlier the rumour has been consistently denied and it would put them over the 5000 production cap anyway, which in the short term, probably won't happen.

I think some of the wiser ones can back me up

It has been denied by Ferrari multiple times, and there are people on here who were very interested in the possibilty (having put down deposits when it was rumoured).

I think the other name that was rumoured for a while was "California".

old news last year stuff, i put a deposit with the worst ferrari/ maserati dealer in Aust (BTW you wanna know who that is) and my deposit remains for production 1 and 11 in aust delivery, but the factory has canned the project, self imposed 5k limit per annum. In other words they dont wanna become porsche and prostitute the brand, they want and seek exclusivity. But my deppi is still there, on the hope, but i reckon we have more chance of Aust playing in the world cup final than a production Dino/ California

Interesting topic. A little birdie whispered in my ear that the project is a goer, based on a shortened QP chassis, with 3 piece folding roof and front engine. Ferrari is looking to increase production from 5 to 8 thousand.

 

When would a dealer so no to taking money?

I know people who have put down deposits with dealers on the faint hope a certain car would be available in Australia even if all there was were rumours.

They'll take your money, earn some interest (as hinted at prior), and if it's a definite no go, they may give it back to you if they feel like it....


BTW, Goober, who IS the worst dealer in Oz? I've heard you make that reference a few times (pm is cool if you don't want to say it on the board )

at best, after driving the RS4 ---now that is sex on wheels, and it dont come with 42 pages of options like the M3 or porker, what you see is what you get, this is the ducks guts as far as an everyday rocket goes. When we were awaiting someone for the SFR luch run he came tearing down the street and it sounded and went like stink, find me a better point to point everyday car and i'll go he for charlie and for 164k
