Hi everyone, New member here. I recently put a deposit down on and spec'd a F8 Tributo, which will be my first Ferrari. I figured I'd share my spec with all of you. It's certainly not as well-optioned as some others are, but it hits the things that are important to me. Have to say, I've never been this excited for a car before, and I've had a few! Welcome. Spec looks relatively good but I guess it comes down to how you plan driving the car as the electric seats sit higher and provide less headroom than the racing seats. The lateral support during sporty driving is also very poor. I personally found the racing seats to be more comfortable and supportive even though they feel initially bony when you get in. I can understand the initial high cost of the CF seats is off putting - as is the case with all of Ferrari's crazy option costs - but in this type of car the CF seats are more befitting imho.
Welcome. That's a pretty cool spec. I will concur on the seats. If you are either tall or plan on tracking it, get CF race seats. The electric comfort seats are pretty high and they do not provide adequate lateral support for performance driving. Fine for cruising and a bit of backroad fun, but terrible for any track work. Seriously consider the yellow rev counter. With the red and black interior, that big yellow tach will make the whole thing very "Ronald McDonald" looking. Get black or red. Same for your wheels. Consider swapping your center caps for either black, silver, or CF. Ask your dealer to show you thse. Lots to choose from. Other than that, very nice. Make sure that you tell your dealer that you want the car with Michelin tyres. The Pirellis aren't even close to the performance of the Michelins. Did they indicate when you may get your allocation? Some good specs....I would also recommend the racing seats.
Thanks for the input, Shadowfax. I skipped the CF seats due to back issues. I've had race seats in the past (in Porsches) and I really need the adjustability and suppleness of a more comfortable seat so I don't get back pain. 28 years in military Special Operations took its toll on me! Also, I'm only 5'9" and don't plan on tracking the car.
Another post with super helpful input. Much appreciated. See above on the race seat choice. With regard to the yellow tach and calipers, I initially had them in red, but changed because I wanted more contrast. With the yellow steering wheel cap, I think the yellow tach will blend in nicely. Also, wanted to break up the wheels a bit by getting red calipers to contrast with the yellow center caps to match the shield. Moreover, I think all of the black F8s I've found online have yellow calipers, so I figured I'd be unique, haha. Excellent point on the tires. I'm a Michelin fan for sure. I'll bring it up with them.
I was initially told April or May, but the other day I was told possibly January (or potentially even earlier). We'll see.
Just suggestions Wheel center caps are easily changed anyway. I have red calipers on the Nero Stellato Lusso and had yellow center caps with diamond cut wheels. I thought they would tie in with the shields, but the sat too far apart. But the yellow caps and red calipers are always in the same frame. Switched to CF center caps and they work with both the black and the CF side skirts. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Great point. I could just swap center caps if I don't like the look of red calipers with yellow caps. I like the idea of CF caps as well. Thank you!
My pet hate, spec leather on the roof minimum. OEM material is CRAP Leather on seat backs and firewall are also nice.
Cool spec...I’d get the race seats...Red stripe in center with red piping around the seat....race seats are much more supportive, more comfortable and better looking. Cool that you could walk into you Ferrari deal and order a new F8. When I was looking at 488’s the sales guy at my Ferrari dealer, Tampa FL ...told my wife and I we can’t order a new Ferrari until we buy a few used ones and build a relationship with the dealership.
Consider. The red interior. I personally love the Black Red contrast and sport factor. The is very bright and does not “fade” for a decade. Have you seen how your spec looks in Nero Daytona/Bordeaux ? Do you plan on keeping this car for a bit? Forever? Until the next one? No one says they care but the same dealer who takes your spec will discount severely your trade in for that color combination in the near term. I personally have an Argento Bordeaux car in my future but I will plan on keeping that one forever. Just an opinion. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Few tips Red interior, make sure you see it irl before you order, accents are elegant, big red areas are very taste specific... ask the dealer to show you one... I would go with accents and not whole interior option. I would add red seatbelts. Seats, as many said we most prefer the cf option, the are just right, with back issues I wouldn’t take a risk and just rent 458/488 for a day and see if it’s a good fit, I believe it is after driving full days with them. Rev counter, black like the stitches, elegant. See if you can get red outer trim for seats, double red stitching for dash, alcantara for seat inner and red stripe in seat inner (all for cf seats), carbon kick is gorgeous. Understand. But keep in mind a Ferrari is a funny car with its seats. The comfort of the standard seats is a little deceiving and not like the Porsche 18 ways which i found by far more comfortable. On my 488 i really wanted the electric option with the wider range of adjustment but as fate had it i got to drive one at a circuit with the race buckets. Previously id turned my nose up at them after finding them rather hard and unforgiving at the dealership. Anyway after driving two demo cars on the circuit - one with the electrics and the other with the buckets i changed my order. Tbh i dont think either are adequately padded but the buckets surprisinglg stood out as the more comfortable and supportive even though they didnt have the same range of adjustment. I think the bottom line is in comparison to many of its competitors Ferrari falls s bit short on function and seat comfort. Its not a deal breaker but it is what it is. If you get a chance to take both types for a good run you will get a better feel which is better for you,
The race seats in the F8 are not only stunning, they are highly supportive and very comfortable. The best I have had the pleasure of parking my derriere into.
Red calipers wuth yellow center caps. Some of the print on the caliper is yellow. Nice tie in. Also corresponds with shield. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have to amplify Shadowfax post here...about Ferrari seats. He is so correct about the race seats and Ferrari falling short...way way short with the standard electric seats. My 488 has the electric seats....I so wish it have the more comfortable supportive race seats. The word "race seats" I know doesn't sound like something designed for comfort...but they are more back and side supportive with out squeezing you. My local friend with a 488 has race seats and I prefer driving his car more than my own. I like the race seats so much that after this crazy year is over I want to find a 2019 488 with race seats to traces my 2019 488 in on. Crazy! Now on the other side...my wife prefers the electric seats. She has it in her head that because they are more adjustable they are more comfortable. She also has the stigma that cheap cars have manual seats and electric seats are an upgrade.
You guys are good! That's for sure, haha! I slept on it and after re-reading everyone's input, just made the following changes: -Removed electric seats and specific design seat option and replaced with racing seats and seat lifter (almost zero change in price) -Switched from yellow tach to red -Switched from yellow wheel center caps to CF -Switched from Pirelli to Michelin
Nice spec and great car - I'm happy for you! Are those FRONT and REAR RADAR detectors? Didn't know these were an option. If so, why not go after market with something like a Radenso or Escort 360Ci combination radar and laser jammer? (I got the Escort installed for around $6k. In FL, cops do most of their business on the majors using laser, and they generally shoot frontside. Ask me how I know......
Damn. That last part had me laughing big time. That's actually hillarious. Npt meant in a mean spirited way, it's just funny as hell. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hi, They aren't radar "detectors". They are actual radar that are components of the full ADAS (system), which includes: Front Radar with automated cruise control Back Radar with Blind Spot and cross traffic Front driving camera lane keep assist Electrochromatic mirrors Thanks!
Just bear in mind that that's subjective. The Michelin 4S is friendlier and requires less of a warm up, but the Pirelli PZ4 offers more grip when properly lit up.
