    Hi all,

There is a new Vintage Race organization.....actually it's the original organizers of HSR that were bought out of sorts a few years back. Joe Pendergast is back with Continental Historics Racing Association.

    CHRA Announces Porsche/Ferrari Challenge Series

Tampa, FL (July 7, 2005) – CHRA today announced a new series they will include at all race events. The series will include classes for Porsche 911 and 993 Carrera Cup cars as well as Ferrari 348 and 355 Challenge cars and will pit the cars in head to head competition.

“Historic racing’s primary competitor group is the gentleman driver. The Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup were ultimately developed for this same group of drivers, but on a larger scale. This is a perfect match.” said Steve Kibble, of CHRA. “There are quite a number of these cars sitting with no place to race. The cars are pretty evenly matched and should provide good, close, competitive racing, thus offering a great show.”

The cars will run to a set of rules that allows some modifications for parts no longer available as originally raced (example: the rear suspension sub-frames on the Ferrari 348 Challenge cars). Other parts available for modification need to be approved by CHRA and Technical Director Steve Kibble. Steve can be reached at: [email protected] or (770) 401-9243.

Any competitors with cars that fit into any of these four classes, interested in running, should contact CHRA at: [email protected]. Information is also available on the CHRA we site: www.chra.cc.

    Dave,
I've emailed you. I'd be very interested, especially if you have other Texas cars going to share your costs.
Can the challenge cars run in either of the Saturday Enduro's?
Is Homestead a freindly track to learn? I'm very comfortable at TWS and MSR where I've done thousands of laps, but I don't have much experience learning new tracks.
The timing for that weekend looks good and Maryanne loves Miami so put me down for a definite maybe.....

Got your email. I'll call and find out about the enduro. But I'm pretty damn sure that is a no brainer. The enduros are huge fun and you really can get into a rhythm. Thursday promoter test day will give you ample time to get comfy. The facilities at Homestead are very nice, FIA style, i.e. garages with in and out to pit lane, etc. I have not been there since we ran in WSC back in 97/98, but I remember it being a very smooth track, fairly easy to learn and very fast.

OK, I'm planning to go. They've revised the schedule showing the Challenge cars in the Continental Enduro Saturday afternoon.

Anyone else interested? Wes? Rob Lay??

I found an incar video of a PCar trackday on rennlist. Any tips on learning the track from experienced guys?

I am registered with my car and will have two other 355CH for rent for this event. I will be driving the two sprint races on Sunday myself. We will have the FCA members at my paddock area for lunch and everybody else is welcome. Please RSVP so we can get the right amount of food.

Love to see you guys out there.

    Martin,

I talked with Tim Pendergast this morning and I've faxed my entry form.

Glad to know that you like the track. I do have a passenger seat, so if you can ride with me Thursday, then let me follow you around that would be great.

Are you going to run the enduro Saturday afternoon? Any takers on your rental cars?

I'll RSVP for the hospitality and see you Thursday morning.

    Thanks.

    Mark McKenzie

from what it looks like I will arrive on Wednesday afternoon with the trailer and motorhome or on Thursday morning. Set up shop and am all yours for the day.
I am running the two Sprint races Sunday. Can not do Sat as well. Do not have enough tires and wheels to mount them on and rather not destroy two cars in one weekend :)

I will probably stay that weekend at the track in the motorhome. Don't think I will be shuttling back and forth between home and Homestead.

    Glad you are coming Martin.

Mark, I'm pretty sure you can not have a passenger in the car for this event or any other vintage racing series.

Let me take the seat out, you don't need the weight.

I'm not signed up as a co-driver with Kitchak so far this weekend....so anyone feeling they can't drive for a full hour, I'll have all my gear with me in our transporter.

We will have 4 cars there, but only one of them is a Ferrari and that's Marks. However, 962C's are cool too.

All are welcome to our paddock. We will be under our 53'x26' big top, not in the garages.
