Hey, You know what, I will call BS. Why was the thread closed? Dave is a good fella and I didn't smell any self promotion. What the hell is "Dave and I haven't had a talk" What is he? Ten? he doesn't need papaw to lecture him. I think that was a crummy move. Closing down the thread went way too far.... Jeesh
I didn't get it either Rob? Dave is a good guy. It wasn't like Dave was posting it up for free advertising. So what gives?
Agreed. Dave didn't promote himself. Some of his satisfied customers were approving of his innovations and contributions to the Ferrari world. Actually Dave doesn't have to promote himself, his work speaks for itself.
+1 on that From a quick Google search I found his new site, also there's a link to it in his main Scuderia Rampante site. It seems there's many similar threads of happy customers trying to help other Fchat users by posting a comment. And of all people, Dave is one of the most respected experts on Ferrarichat!
I'm not offended in the least by a referral to a site with quality parts and service such as what Dave provides. Neither does it appear that Dave has made an attempt at commercial self-promotion. Heck, even if he had, I would see no problem with it as Dave has been a valuable asset to the Fchat community. Rob, talk to Dave quickly!
Rob, bad call - there are tons of "praise so-and-so" threads that never get closed. This seems selective - wouldn't it have been enough to simply remove the URL? Dave may not be an advertiser but he adds a lot of value to your site.
Typical Fchat BS----I can almost understand if another sponser here was selling similar items, BUT who else sells gold connector kits and some of the other items Dave has made or invented a better way of doing things... I always thought this site was the place to come for info and recommendations---Used to be that way--Now has become nothing more than a you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours type of place.... Such a shame..... If you don't scratch then they delete and edit threads and posts.... Sooner or later all it does is drive off great people with great ideas and great products. So glad I am not a Mod here any longer....
I must agree to the protest, what about "US" the Ferrari Chat community, the people who subscribe time and again to get any and all info or help from not only the major sponsors but get some decent deals or even better solutions from the smaller guys. Don't we have a say? there was no obvious advertising just good praise on a good product. Shouldn't we have knowledge to all good products for our wonderful machines?
Not about you or me or the thousands of users here anymore--It's all about the $$$..... As a paying subscriber I feel the same as you. I should get the best info out there, not what someone wants me to hear... Sad.... Would love for a Mod or someone to explain to us why the thread was deleted so we all know. I mean if there was a rule broken I think we should know as to not post anything like that that violates the rules.... I'll hold my breath for the explaination....
I have been buried gluing back together a Vintage engine for a week, come up for air and this? I am surprised that anyone even found the new site, I was not aware it was even on line yet. My sincere thanks for the kind words to all. 1) I have followed every single "rule" set forth by the powers that be regardless of how they change based on any given attitude on a particular day. Change they DO, I have saved all of the off site correspondence 2) I was ASKED to come here years ago and pitch in my opinion by Rob. I enjoy helping where I can and feel it is the least I can do to pay back the folks that have made this a wonderful career for my family and myself. I take great pride in calling all my customers friends. As we all enjoy the same passion I have stuck around regardless of the attacks and censorship being piled on me as of late. 3) My phone number has not changed since we opened the doors, I have no idea what this "We haven't talked yet" is all about. I have not sent Rob a bill of any kind for adding value (debatable) to his site. At one time years back I inquired about being a sponsor here to support a forum I felt had value for the Ferrari owners. The cost to help was beyond my means so I felt helping by answering questions for years now would do the same. 4) ""They are both big boys "" Ya think? ""Im sure all will be explained folks"" I too am waiting for that. No CS email response, a full explanation this time as this is a targeted attack on someone supporting this forum as best I can, hell I even have links to this site on my site. I had a choice to make back when we were considering starting a company that would provide solutions to problems to the owners of these cars. Did we focus our efforts and assets on developing these products that we knew worked OR throw what money we had at seeing our name in lights advertising on another web site? The answer you now know. I have been tolerating this nonsense for some time now and I have reached a point where I will no longer stay tight lipped about it. I have tried quite hard to keep negative debates about this type of thing private but as it was Rob that made it public...so be it. One hell of a way to entice a potential sponsor. Consider that to date no one has tried to sell me on the sponsorship idea....NO ONE....a lead off sales technique of arm twisting...think that will work on an old guy? Are you NUTS?
Well, all I have to say is that a couple mods on here need to watch a porno, grab a beer and get there head straight. In the meantime eat your heart out check out these babies! I know Dmnstuff and Rob just love boobs! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I absolutely agree. The money I paid for a Rossa subscription is my way of supporting FerrariChat and to say thanks, but if the site is going to digress into this type of activity, perhaps it's time to rethink... Robbie you are absolutely correct with respect to Scuderia Rampante Innovation's products, they are totally novel and are not, and can not, be manufactured or sold by any other company/individual. I am using the term "novel" in a legal sense. I can state that without equivocation, as I am the Intellectual Property Attorney that drafted and filed all of the patent on David's inventions and products.
There is a big difference between "Passion" and "Dollar Signs". I see way too many people who look at Ferrari customers as dollar signs, and Dave sure isn't one of them. I was glad to see him say that he considers each customer as a friend, as I feel the same way about mine. When there are too many people in the world with the attitude of "What can *YOU* do for me", Dave still has the attitude of "What can *I* do for you".
I don't get it either. As a user, I pay rossa to say thanks to the site for all the info given. Now blocking that content doesn't make sense. I'm surprised by the lack of responses from Rob or whoever after the thread was deleted. I don't think this is just between Dave/Rob. It involves everyone that comes here and especially everyone that pays to support the site, to get access to all Ferrari related info out there.
Easy, Gentlemen. It was neither personal nor to be construed as an insult. Though Everybody respects Dave Helms, there are conflicts. Sponsors have a few rules of thumb; If competition is "advertised" by either competitor OR another unrelated individual who even innocuously posts link, Sponsors will NOT be happy campers and will contact Rob. Rob has a few rules of thumb; Potential Sponsors always contact Rob. Rob does not initiate contact with potential Sponsors. It is up to the potential Sponsor. In the interim, particularly given the time of day, let alone the reputation of Dave Helms, perhaps moreso than on any other occasion, filtering the link at least for the time being was indeed a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" proposition.
So if I come across a service/site that I had an excellent experience with, I cannot share that information with other users unless that service/site is a sponsor?
Though it wasn't meant that way, it was taken that way by the above posts. And again, I don't mean between Rob/Dave but to every user of this site and especially paid subscribers. I, as do the posters above me, have a problem with this.
I wonder if there's somewhere else we can go where we can go and chat without all of the Moderator BS..... I would just like ...
If we have a bad experience with a sponsor are we allowed to post it, or will it get deleted? Honest question, I am not trying to be cute.
Dave, as you can see there are many of us that are very disappointed with what has happened here. I think it will be hard to get an explanation of why this was done but I am sure we would be really happy if it would just stop and people could freely post on here to share their positive Ferrari experiences so that we can all benefit from them. I am truly sorry that your fresh air break had to be spoiled with this incident
I mean this in the most sarcastic way. You act like your opinion actually matters to Rob... it doesn't.... Besides Ferrari chat is so big now who cares if a few of you get your panties in a bunch? It's not like it'll impact the upteen thousand other users who want to post on here. Go ahead be a naysayer... Rob will prove you wrong... just ask him.
