New Forza Ad

    Well I was flipping threw the new Forza the morning and the new ad really caught my eye.Looks pretty good Rob.

    Yes, thanks to Jason Cardani from DexM Performance Parts Warehouse www.dexmllc.com for doing the ad for me. Please give feedback.

    A few things I might get changed in a future version...

    - Update the screen shot to show higher post and user counts.
    - Update user, post, and ad counts.
    - Make some of the interior glass shots of the car transparent so you can see through the car to the screen shot.

    What do you think about putting the yellow FerrariChat.com text on top and white on the bottom?

    Do you think the ad is really worth $400 an issue vs. the old 1/8th b&w ad?

    There's only one way to find out, right...? i still think you should include the question: "How did you hear about FerrariChat?" in the registration form for new users... i think that, with enough answers to a question like that, it would help you target better marketing areas... Just my two Rubles...


    Haven't seen the new ad yet, though; can anyone post a picture of it...?

    It was interesting to see the screen names in the ad. There is Glick and ...Allan Lambo.

    Kinda shows the wide spectrum of FChat enthusiasts.

    Yes, along with their home phone numbers and VINs...nott.

    It is a screen dump of the main screen and you can spot a few names of those who have posted last on the threads visible. No biggie. I just thought it was funny WHO is there visible.

    Anyone got a scan of the ad? Wouldn't mind seeing it (being a graphic designer and all..) but I never have time to get to the store to check these things out.

    And Allan's name is on there...? That will backfire on the point of advertising... People from other websites will say, "Allan Lambo...? The same pompous wanker on the NSX, Viper, Corvette, Lamborghini and other boards who's always putting everyone else down...? Hell, no, i'm not going to FerrariChat...!"

    And of the seven thread visible, 2 were about Lambos and one about the Porsche Cayenne! ;) Me thinks we are over-analyzing!

    I might make the one on top yellow and the one on bottom red.

    But my biggest suggestion (other than to collect "where'd you hear about FerrariChat" info) would be on your bullet list.

    In the past you've mentioned things like "The most visited Ferrari forum" by a long way... such comparative statistics will be more compelling than raw numbers (2,000 messages a day)... that actually sounds a bit intimidating.

    You could also push other attributes that you want to foster... "The friendliest and most helpful Ferrari community you can find!"

    "Share in each other's joy of Ferrari ownership." or some such thought. Maybe quote an actual thread, like: "This thread is almost as enjoyable as driving my Ferrari... almost."

    Just some ideas from my marketing side.

    A few minutes ago I was flipping through the magazine again and my son came to sit down beside me. He looked for about 2 seconds and said "Hey, that's Robs car!"

    Scary.

    Lighten up F-chatters, life is too short to sweat what a few of us write that you may not agree with.

    Got to go now, working in photoshop on my F-chat avatar: a Maranello with a screaming chicken trans-am decal on it. It's amazing with the decal on they're dead ringers! GM must have been ahead of their time...Either that or the 550 is a horrible design.

    Na, that couldn't be it. :)

    Rob,
    I think the ad looks good. First impressions:
    - Update the screen shot for the higher numbers
    - Leave the car's glass alone, but put white under the wing strut. Seeing the screen through the car may be too busy.
    - Make the "FerrariChat.com at the top and bottom the same color.
    - Crop the bottom of the screen shot so the Windows taskbar does not show.
    - I think the ad is worth the money, since Forza is one of the central mediums of Ferrari for the average guy/girl with a Ferrari interest. It is on a lot of newsstands and has a high subscription number. But, I do think you should start the subscriptions to the website to help offset that cost from your pocket. A few bucks spread out amongst the members is fair for the work you put into the website. In my opinion, you should recoup your costs and even make some profit.
