    Hi all
The warranty of my FF is up for renewal in Nov and i was wondering what peoples thoughts are on the New Power warranty. this is the excerpt sent from Maranello

As mentioned previously, the New Power product replaces the Power Normal and PowerTrain products. Furthermore, the Power Warranty now offers the possibility to extend coverage up to the twelfth year of life of the vehicle.

They want circa 4/5k for a Years cover. any thoughts comments (alternatives) welcomed!
    Thanks

I looked at the FF as a viable car before i purchased my first California T. It was actually the dealer that put me off as he said that they had seen a few failures of the gearbox, and that repair was hideously expensive.
There have been a few posts on this forum about the PTU ( power take off box) failure.
A few Ferrari specialists now have a solution, as it looks like the cause is down to leaking seals, which contaminate the oil in the gearbox, thus it degrades over time and hence failure.
I also spoke to Tim at Bell Sport & Classic about this, they had only seen 1 failure, and learnt a lot from it. Yes the repair is still expensive, but not in the multiple of thousands needed for a new gearbox.
Looking on the net Furlonger also have a solution for this fault.
Looking on Scuderia parts a pukka Ferrari gearbox repair kit varies from £1K up to £8k, dependant on which area needs attention.
I simply typed into the net " What goes wrong with the Ferrari FF" - the main culprit and cost being the gearbox.
At £4K to £5k the New Power warranty doesnt seem so bad - its the "What If ...."
May be a good idea to talk to Furlonger and Tim at Bell Sport & Classic for prices and opinions?
Let us know what you decide.

No worries - coincidently Furlonger have a FF for sale and they are offering a 2 year PTU warranty on the car, so in my estimation, they have stripped the gearbox, fitted new shaft / gearbox seals, and re-assembled - jobs a good un!
I didnt ask , but are you planning to keep the car for some time?, if yes a thorough inspection by a specialist to get a health update on the car may be a good starting point.
If you plan on trading her in next year, and as you know the history of the car, why bother spending £5k on a Power Warranty?.
Do you know if you can transfer the Ferrari warranty to a new owner?, like wise that may be a good selling point?

Ps lets have a picture of her too!

Having just had a very dispiriting experience with the warranty, I would say no.

2014 458 Spider bought last year from Ferrari main dealer, with 2 years warranty.

Just had a service and tbe oil pressure sender has failed. Not covered by warranty - no explanation, just no.

I don't read the small print on warranty documents. When dealing with a premium brand I believe it should be written fairly, and there be no necessity to analyse it in detail. Not with small print to deliberately dodge fair claims.

I have always bought premium cars from main dealers, at a premium price, on the understanding that it gives peace of mind.

After 5 Astons, all with warranties, and never an issue with claims, this will be my first and last Ferrari, sadly.

I would take it up with the sales person, I would have thought it would have been covered. You can always call another delaer and ask them what they think?

I agree thats poor service when you buy a premium brand, are you allowed to mention the dealer by any chance.
You see i bought my second California T from HR Owen, and it developed a bad rattle from the folding roof mechanism after a month. As i am based in South Yorks the car went to JCT Leeds for diagnosis.
Later that day JCT rang to say they had diagnosed the problem but the fault was not covered under warranty!, to fix the problem would take around 3 hours work along with an hours diagnosis time.
Just one 5 minute phone call to the Jonathon at HR Owen and the fault was fixed F.O.C, just what you would expect from a Ferrari main dealer.
It does beggar the question though - " just what is covered under the warranty and is it worth the money.
Simon, one way or another i would be contacting Ferrari UK over this.
