I've talked quite a bit to the gentlemen running the show. It should be pretty impressive. I cannot speak for any of the entrants but I know there will be some amazing cars there. Link below:

$65-75 for admission to the show? Am I reading that right? That's quite a bit of money for the regular Joe (maybe that's the point). The Cavallino Classic in WPB was 'only' $50. Do they expect a better field than that?

EDIT: I guess you get more than a stamp on the hand -
"Advance General Admission includes the following:
Admission to the Concours, Concours d'Elegance Program, Peoples Choice Award Ballot, Choice of Mansion Tours"

The mansion tour would be good.

Interesting thing is you get 1 adult ticket with car registration. But an Extra adult ticket for spouse is $75 (if showing car) vs $65. and kid<12 is $25 (if showing car) vs free.

Unless entrants get something extra, seems like they're taking advantage of those showing cars.

They do get extras such as food, etc. It may not be clear on the website but there are many extras involved for the participants. I've talked to the guys several times and they aren't messing around. It looks like it is going to be a first class event.

I can't think of a nicer place to hold such an event. Bellevue ave is one of the nicest streets in the country, easy. On a spring saturday it is just a great place to be, BUT for a first time event they are just soaking people with those prices.

Maybe most who are showing or just looking around are named vanderbilt.

Trust me I own a business on Bellevue Avenue and nothing is cheap there. It is costing them a fortune to put on this event. Just to rent out the various locations they are using is astronomical.

Ray the area around the tennis hall is not too bad, but i was thinking that the society that runs the houses had hit the organisers hard for the use of the properties. For an event w/o a track record or a tease of what special cars might be there it is pricey.

I guess it would have been better for the jeans and t-shirt car nuts that don't care about a dinner at rosecliff to have a lower entry point for the first year. But like i said, you can't beat the location. I really like bellevue on a spring morning.

I go to Newport at least once a year. Would love to go if I can get out of work.

I may have some extra free tickets to the concours if anybody wants some.
Just send me an e-mail to [email protected] and I'll see what I can do.

I mean absolutely no disrespect, and I hope that I am wrong, but I can't imagine the show will be very well attended at $65 to look at some nice cars in Newport. I've been to the Beverly Hills show on Rodeo and it was like $9.

Who knows though....maybe they just want a more "private" event.

    Best of luck!

The show is coming up soon. If anybody is interested in going stop by my place at 210 Bellevue and I'll get you some free passes.

    Nice offer, Ray.

I'll speak up, I am not interested in going to the show for the show's sake but I wouldn't mind going if part of a drive of fchaters and maybe ray's offer could help. Anyone got any interest?

It is a great location on a spring day.

Yes it's expensive, but I for one applaud the effort and have entered my 330 for Sunday to see how well they operate. Judging by the entry number they sent me (#77) I guess I am not the only one. It would be very nice to see a successful multi-day auto event in Newport again. Stop by and say "Hi!"

I'm toying with the idea of taking a ride out there this weekend... the weather looks like it will likely be nice, and it's a fine destination for a drive.

Ray, if your free passes offer still stands, I'd love a couple.... but being from CT and having to work all week will prevent me from picking up. I understand if that's a deal breaker for some reason.

If you come to Newport on Saturday you can still pick up the tickets at 210 Bellevue until 6:00. On Sunday I will be at the show all day but maybe I can arrange to have tickets at the door for you. I'll have to check. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] and maybe we can figure something out.

    Thanks, Ray.

I'm still trying to figure things out for this weekend.... and figure out if I can take off to Newport on Sunday without completely annoying my family :) I'm really hoping to be able to make it out there though.

Any of the CT crew thinking of heading out to Newport this Sunday? Wanna maybe make a run of it? There's some nice driving between Hartford and RI...

OK... It's official, I'm Newport bound this Sunday for the Concours!

It's supposed to be a gorgeous day, any other CT folks headed out there and care to make a mini run of it?

Sam... I'll try to look you and the 330 up while I'm there, it will be great to meet another F-Chatter / FCA-NER guy.

Ray... if you see this, check your email -- I'd love to coordinate on those tix!
