I'll have one next week. How many do you see, offered to market? Where are your "comps" as they say in real estate??? I looked over a fright pig today, they asked $55K. Rust was bubbling up all over it, since the fire job repair. Good night.
That's the ONE HUGE REASON a wet sump North American car represents the better value., It's NON CAT, legal then, legal now, end of discussion. A Euro car, as we have seen, might have been "stolen one time, in Portobello, Spain" and all of a sudden you are in a mega buck legal battle that will make you want to crush it into a cube, in spite!
Just so you are aware, that "fresh painted" picture is missing most of the OEM warning stickers, on the Expansion Tank, for example... No big deal, but ....DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS. It's more than just a full paint gun.....
here are the advantages of the Euro dry sump over the U.s. 308 variant: looks better, is lighter, will not starve oil in hard cornering, single dizzy, no effing stupid ass smog rails and other assorted garbage, sounds much better, as the air box is not logged with five pounds of fiberglass, and...accordingly...simply performs better. It is also mor in line with Ferrar's racing pedigree and is presented as the designers intended, before the dumbas U.s. got their moronic mitts into it. In my book, plus 10k for a dry sump over wet sump, condition being equal.
I would guess that they got rid of it because it is a more costly and complex set-up that isn't really needed in a street car (at least one with the 308's performance envelope).
Scott, I seem to be missing five pounds of fiberglass on my car? How are things going for you (job) ? Still think you should move to AZ.

If you live in California, which may be the largest Ferrari market in the US, anything without cats is going to be difficult or impossible to register for road use. If they stop smog testing cars back to 1975, that would open a significant market and probably drive values up. In the meantime, the market here favors US-spec cars. California regulations pre-date the DOT/EPA, so the state can do pretty much what it wants.
Interesting numbers. Although at least a couple of factors affect these ranges: 1. GTBs are common in Europe, scarcer in the US, so you probably wouldn't see many carb'ed US GTBs for sale in Europe. 2. As far as we know, all 'glass 308s were GTBs, and 'glass cars are more expensive, so you would need to separate those before running any GTS vs GTB numbers. (The range is huge.) Finally, price is based on where you live. If I lived somewhere were a Euro-spec 308 was legal to drive, I'd pay more for one. But as posted above they won't pass California emissions (according to several Ferrari techs I have asked about this), so those of us in California will probably continue to drive demand for US-spec 308s.

bottom line, the 3x8 cars sell for a ton more in Europe. That is how it started with aircooled 911s. Soon Euro based dealers will buy US cars and sell them in their home homelands for significant profit. In the old 911 world it took 3-4 years for the prices to reach parity. Buy now is the take away.
Thanks Joe, I have that in the main list. The interior is not black. It has been redone in grey. People, please add your data to the list rather than as a separate post. That way, we keep a full record.
Curious if you know the answer but for Ferrari euro/us spec cars vary in looks. Does the same hold true for the pcars of the same era? Are there noticeable visual difference for euro /us spec pcars cars ?
There are a couple. The 80's Euro Carreras have different rear corner lights than the US cars, and they also have side marker lights in the fenders that our cars don't have. The rear bumper overriders are smaller and more widely spaced too. They may have slightly lower ride heights as well. There may be more differences but those stand out. Thanks for the education, would a US pcar then Be accepted in Europe the same ? Reason why I ask , my curiosity about 09scuderia comments about the same could apply to the 308. I thought Europeans didn't like the Us market cars because of thee styling changes. Is their any truth to that ? And would Europeans import a US car ? That's just seems against the grain. Just curious if anyone can comment.
They definitely are importing them to Europe. A US car can be changed to Euro spec fairly easily. Most of it can be done with equivalent Euro parts and simple tools.
If we are using Ebay to track auction prices. I would like to add this. (no affiliation) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ebaymotors/1982-Ferrari-308-GTSi-just-21k-miles-NO-RESERVE-belts-completed-2014-/121427692504?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648&forcev4exp=true A very nice 1982 yellow 308GTS $42,000
By all means add it if you think the sale is bona fide. I don't know if it's as easy to determine this on eBay as confirmed bids on high value items often seem to fall through at the transaction stage.
