Exactly why I went with a black 84 winged car. Being 35 this form for me says Countach more then any other. I'm sure born a decade earlier I'd say LP400 or even earlier, to each our own it would appear. :)

Dont worry about the hump in the kevlar rear deck lid of a QVDD, you'll be able to pass modern sports cars with a properly tuned Euro Spec car! No need to look behind you, they are devastatingly quick which CANNOT be said of the other variants before it. All the raw power in a car MUCH lighter than an Anni car but with the same suspension setup. Its a super car, now it finally acted like one.

An 85-86 QV, as Balboni says, they are pure Countach with the power it finally deserved. Im not a fan of the 88.5 with side skirts. Thats the departure I cant live with.

If the LP5000 had the size engine Stanzini and Wallace originally envisioned, the QVDD certainly had all the power they wanted to see this crazy machine have.

Having said that, any and all Carbed Countachs are masterpieces! Happy to see the car world has finally accepted this fact.

Let me pile on! lol . First for some reason I like the word "hump"... then the whole point of a countach is to look forward not backward. If you have to look behind you, your car needs a tune up or a DD engine! :)
the 400 had it right in its own way with no rearview mirror at least!

I'm more concerned about passing a honda going 60 than a modern sports car, since i was planning on driving it a lot. Merging right is no picnic when the Cali freeways are crowded. You can't always just gun it and pass someone. If there's someone on your right in the blind spot you might merge right into them if you dont look a few times. And while you're looking back and right, you must also be careful not to rear end the car in front of you if traffic were to stop suddenly.

That said, I do like the QV a lot. It ticked most boxes for me and I did make an offer on a DD (even tho I dont care about carbs)

The seller said yes then backed out 2 days later. When I bought my Countach there was only 3 non-Anni cars available in the USA and I made offers on 2 of them rather than sit around waiting.

I bought mine years ago and pickins were slim. It's not just in 2014 that you gotta jump on a car right away. It's been that way for a long time.

The experience has been amazing. I couldn't be happier. The car was in line with how the seller described it, and what I expected. I've put 10,000 KM on it already, and the car is ready for more.

More doors are open (figuratively and literally) if you speak to someone with a finger on the pulse rather than just browse listed cars. ;) Not sure if you did or not, just saying. These cars are moving away from the market of magazines and online ads.

Very true about a properly tuned DD. I drive a 458 as a daily driver and I am still astonished of the power of the DD when its property tuned. I also am not a fan of the side skirts, and if I had a car with them I'd remove. I prefer the rounded sill. I also think the carbed CT are masterpieces, and I also suspect as these cars are restored we will see the removal of the US front and rear abominations and see the cars as they are intended to look. Removal of the skirts and US bumpers is not an easy or cheap fix if done property but we are now approaching values where owners will find it worth it.

All of the Countach autos were relatively inexpensive. At the time, in the U.S., the top of the pecking order was the 1985 euro 'row' DD QV cars.

Should have bought all of them in a blink of an eye!
It's very interesting how some cars have jumped significantly and some not that much.
Also, the new price of a car has little or nothing to do with how much they are today.

I don't know if the White Pearl QV in Palm Beach Lamborghini is mentioned anywhere else
in this forum, if so I apologize for any redundancy. It was originally listed for around
$325,000 if I recall correctly. The car needed a serious detail with respect to engine
bay and forward compartment but appeared to be very nice. I can't remember
if they changed the radio. After a couple of months, they did do a nice job cleaning it up. In any case I called and spoke to them today, and they would not reveal the sales price however they said the asking price had been raised to something like $385,000 and confirmed it went for upwards of $300,000. Does anyone have any further detail on this
    transaction?

I knew the first owner of the car. GM from Lauderdale. Nice car. Needed some attention to detail and most likely a good service. I was not aware the car sold. I can find out the selling price.

I just got back from Monterey and was watching this car closely I mentioned
to my son that after the strong showing of Countach's this past weekend at the auctions I bet that car would now sell immediately. Sure enough. The next business day it was gone. Countach's appear to have been recognized for what they are. Extraordinary machines with limited supply. (especially of fine examples). I will not be selling mine anytime soon.

I was thinking about your first option:
    Why can't you sell it?
Now it's the time it seems and lot's of cars are changing hands. More than ever IMO.
What would you say in a few years if prices are coming down again?
    "Should have sold it"?
