Joe, you as one the most thorough, well spoken people familiar with the C/T could pull this off. (hint hint). With what I consider a prevalent factor in accomplishing this is how can an acceptable value be applied to the C/T while prices continue to adjust in a positive upward swing. At this point, the values moving forward are what a buyer will pay to get one before the next caller makes contact with the seller. If a high value is set in place, it will directly affect the cars unkown future potential in its history. If a lower value is felt to be needed to stabilize the market, the most recent buyers of the C/T will be slaughtered, repeating history, making the C/T a poor investment, when it is currently experiencing super car status once again.

For the Countach market to move downward, the entire car market would have to move. A source for comp pricing will be just that. Collectors and investors will use that as a reference for how much more or less they are willing to pay. The laws of supply and demand will ultimately rule.

I think the value question is a very valid one here. What I find interesting is that many of us suggest what values should be on cars or and very recently, selling prices have continued to shoot past the established high watermarks. That illustrates to me, that none of us KNOW what they are worth it seems because these cars continue to go past what many of us enthusiasts believe they should be worth. Every time a car sells for higher than we all think it should, well we are wrong at our valuation. This year has proven that many of us have been wrong, many times over.

Comparables almost seem useless the way it is going as it just seems to continue climbing.
I am pleased, naturally, as a CT owner, but I also feel the car is just getting its' due in the market place. This increase in value IS the correction. The cars, all variants, have been undervalued for years.

When looking at early cars selling for 1.2M or 1.8M it would suggest that other variants are undervalued comparatively.
No matter what happens, it is fun to watch and exciting to be a part of. None of us truly know what is going to happen and what buyers may pay, but this forum is a real treat to read every day as we all try to estimate what the car will do next. COUNTACH!!!

A car I know of in Europe ready to go:

Red/black, original paint, QV DD, under 12,000 miles, 1987 so it has skirts, super condition, silver wheels, 3 owners but no service book.

    Value thoughts?

Yes, here it is... At 400,000 Euro it's certainly enthusiastic about the car and market.

    FA Automobile.com has it listed.

Great price! Undesirable side skirt model and tired interior (hard to determine rest of the condition) but low price.

400,000 Euro is about 500,000 US as I calculate it!

Condition and particular model mean everything. Restoring a countach is very expensive and prices vary dramatically on specifics of models. As I see its on the low side of the DD current market, even considering its a less desirable side skirt model and may need interior work. If the exterior and interior are similar then its about right I would guess.

  10. Also note the early tool kit.

Values are the topic-of-the-moment, so there is nothing repetitive about my posts, especially in a Values Thread. I think of my position as consistent, rather than repetitive. In the spirit of consistency, I'm not known for anything other than telling it the way I see it.

'Too much too fast' is my simple position, and meanwhile, life & business goes on.

No ulterior motive, no axe to grind, no grand scheme, just sharing my point of view it as a result of my direct involvement in multiple similar markets 7/365: Cars | Joe Sackey Classics

So, lets get back to the topic at hand - pure speculation. Lets speculate on a 1985 500s 2v carb car. White/Creme with no wing. Full engine rebuild from the ground up. New carbs, etc. 28k KMs

So whats the market on a bull like this?

Drew, what would you rate its interior and exterior on this 85 white/cream 500s? Any possibility of providing pictures?

It really depends on the car's cosmetic condition, provenance, maintenance history etc. Having said that, without further detailed information, a low-to-high range must be $350k to $500k.

Silver 88-1/2 for sale on the "other" site with a $295 ask right now. Just listed. Long time owner and car just moved from California to Florida. I have absolutely no association with this owner. Seems a fair price.

He says: "It is the only 1 of 1 platinum silver Lamborghini Countach in the world factory paint documented."

    Not true.

Of related interest, another 88.5 (KLA12408 below) was repainted silver post-production.
