Looks like the Star Streak has a lot of Cadillac influences, and vice versa. I think this was they styling test bed for the '75 Eldorado, ha! Forbes also had a green LM. What became of it?
We all spoke about them. At the time, few were available for sale. I remember an argento tan car for sale in Sweden. The yellow/tan car in LA, with the Escort radar detector. The Fox car etc...
I think his son owned it, or still does. Here it is with 5 MSF (Malcolm S Forbes) registration. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And here is the ex-Malcom Forbes LP400S, now in Austria I believe. This is the same car featured in the '60 Minutes' TV program. Pic by WDG Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn Reiner, you've been busy. I suggested to a few friends they buy the green Forbes car but everybody complained about the interior... Ha, told you so. I worry about museum cars though. It's not good for these things to sit so what happens to them after 5, 10 or 15 years?
I luv the Forbes C/T, alot of people hated it. Hopefully they were prepped to some extent before hibernation. The engine will still need to be turned over periodically to prevent seizing. The fuel system would varnish(injecters, pumps, ect), brakes(calipers, lines, booster, ect..)- slave cylinder-rubber seals- ect...will dry up and weap, clutch plate will seize to the fly wheel, antifreeze will become acidic and corrode from the inside, motor mounts dry up and sag. Vaccum hoses dry and become brittle, fuel fiters break down, ect, ect.......potential for rust to attack all metals too. Other than that kind of stuff, not much really. Some cars you see the leather shrinking or pulled,(dashes/ stiching) if someone could give the cause of this, that would be great. Is the leather old/dry, is it direct sun damage, a few improper installations???
I saw it for sale in the early 90's, which is why I didn't think it stayed in the family, but maybe it did.
Actually 2 at that number: one at that number late 2002 (good estimate), and another at that number in late 2006. Please don't ask what they sold for because I cant say per agreements with the owners.
Hey guys, hope to learn some and contribute. Seems like a great place. Thanks Peter and Adam for the recommendation. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?kajc5a
Hopefully not to far from Connecticut. Would be nice to have it at some gatherings. Hopefully new owner will be on here.
He's within a few hours, he is really excited and got a great car. I'm sure we will see him at some events. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?k02qex
Great to see this car did not leave the USA. It didn't seem to make much sense to me when I was informed that the buyer was possible German (???). Surely this car's last-of-a-USA-series value lies with a USA resident.
Still trying to get confirmation, there are varying opinions. Despite comments I've seen, it did come from the factory with it on it. It's quite possible it was done for the NY Auto Show, where the car was featured back then. Not easy to get answers, but the car is legit with the S.
