So lets run with this "adds some value" statement. You listed a bunch of 25th features that made its way to the 88.5 - fine. Without being nit picky, what *major* features of the 25th design, as compared to the 88.5, do you feel make it less value-able?

You wrote: "...listed a bunch of 25th features that made its way to the 88.5...". It would be more accurate to write: "...listed a bunch of 88.5 features tha made its way to the Anni." Improvements began with Chrysler $, and the 88.5 was before the Anni.

I don't understand your last statement, but maybe you didn't understand my posting. My thinking is chronogical, with improvements happening over time, and I meant those improvements would make newer models more valuable than older models, all else being equal. I'm not sure which model you think I am calling less value-able (sic). So to clarify, I believe the 88.5 should be more valueable than a 1986 similar variant. I believe the market thinks the Anni is less valuable than the 88.5 because of the different looks and production numbers more than offsetting the positives of the quality and performance. The Anni is the 'best' variant in terms of quality and performance, but sometimes the market considers other variables more than quality and performance.

Yeah, I was one of the bidders. I was well aware that there would be tons of fabrication involved, but to me it seemed worth it.

I don't even know how to feel anymore, seeing those two sell for ridiculous amounts of money. My dream is to own one of these cars, but right now, it's slowly slipping away. In the mean time, I'm going to continue to save my pennies and search for one to call my own.

  9. Any idea how much they sold for? I saw the 5000s at 94k...

Many pros here could put a price tag range on refurbishing a car like this better than me but at a glance if you need many parts included a complete interior and may be additional engine parts, a restoration of that car could reach over $250K, that is for an end product that has no such a good history (i would not buy it at ongoing countach price once finished).

So whoever buys this, is betting on countach 2 Valves 5000S with good history to reach at least 3/4 million $ very soon and that specific car to reach current level of good condition car.
To me there are too many countach out there to refurbish something like this and come out on top. This aint a racing GTO

About 9 years ago i saw a Miura for sale only with the center section and some miura and Espada engine parts fo about $45,000. It was sold and delivered to top motors for completion i think the total build was $350,000 - an exorbitent amount for the times - price a Miura today.

not painted car needed probably 150-250.000 $ to be restored
    black car needed more...over 350.000 $

i heard the deal for both is in the region of 250.000 $ for both, AS THEY ARE

all this said, they do not need to become worth 1.5M $ to be worth the purchase, whit cars over 600.000 $ each it would be already a doable restoration ....and is not so unrealistic scenario

With something as simple as a shift knob going for a few hundred $'s, that's if you can find one, I just don't see the value here. Wish the new owner the best.

but i think Emilio has got a point that is if the cars are worth $600K. In europe may be. Aint seeing this in the USA yet, especially with a salvage style history. but who knows in 10 years? Under the right conditions, the buyer may look like a genius but that is a far out scenario.

yes, we can say these cars are a "bet" now imo
but we should consider the seller bought them for may be 50k-60k$ for the pair not so long ago and is getting over 200k$ for them without putting any money on them...probably he even sold the original wheels left
    so he won his bet.

now will the next owner win his personal bet? only time will tell

yes, 600k $ is not far from today's value for good carbed 5000s and QV in Europe. if the trend of these car will continue on the rise it could be not a crazy buy as many think
so owner may end up as a winner in the end...who knows?
one thing i think ...if he gets both he is likely a dealer or a shop and not a simple private owner...

True. Would you not be worried about the integrity of the frame on "fire" cars?

  20. The frame is thin. It would be a possible issue. Another problem would be how much of the car was fabricated & not real Lamborghini. In the wreck/rebuild salvage world, a branded title car is usually worth wholesale or loan on the high side.

Also as someone just pointed out to me, I did not catch it...but ANOTHER cool thing of the past to have...here is what was posted by another member on another board in regards to this car...

"Roy, that is unbelievable car & original documentation with title signed by Joe Nastasi. I also bought my Anniversary in 89 from Joe Marmora (great guy) the same selling dealer. I picked it up from him personally and drove it thru Lincoln tunnel. I remember the picture of I think it was his son modeling in front of red countach. GLWS"

I just very recently received my first cold call from someone wanting to purchase my Countach. I didn't know how to respond. It wasn't for sale. Wasn't even sure who should make the first volley. On a cold call, is it the buyer? The seller? I wasn't even thinking of selling when he called. He insisted I throw out a number. I did and it was a big number. The person had seen my car at a local car event. My price was extremely strong and had the offer not come from a dealer who was simply trying to flip my car but rather a true Countach lover who grew up idolizing the car with magazines and posters and was a person like me who truly wanted one badly, maybe, just maybe he would have one. Your thoughts fellas? What would you do? I was ill prepared. I threw out a pie in the sky number for a car I never planned on selling. But what if the cold caller said "okay, you got it."
