this car was owned by a friend of mine that has/had almost any countach variants (beside anniversary) i have never seen in person but i think is a very very good example he sold it and a yellow 5000s when he choosed to concentrate on early countach models only (lp400 and S).
Patrick, €650,000 x 1.09 = $708,500. And bear in mind that's the asking price. There are some astonishing asking prices in Europe, that have no correlation to anything. Meanwhile, Kidston has this nice QV DD realistically priced at $381,570 today Kidston - 1986 Lamborghini Countach LP5000S QV & https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/lamborghini/countach/1986/317882 Very similar car, in a desirable livery.
The car at Kidston looks all there and seems to be very fairly priced...I would think it can only be going upwards in the years to come....love the color combo.
As I was not in the store to buy anything, I felt uncomfortable taking notes of the serial number, though I did look through the car - it is in really nice condition. If you email the dealer I suspect they might provide the details however.
You and me both...Either GENO over paid for this when he bought the pair...or he is being very very greedy... Just joking GENO BUT BOY O BOY..thought it for sure would have been gone by $300K bid...???
Well so far Gene's car put a finish car at around $600K. the auction is at 368K and assuming a total redo at $200K. That white DD in europe looks cheap... EDIT: opps! over $400 K !!??? and not sold ? I am baffled by both end of that deal
Most would view this comic as an investment. (I don't have any interest in comics) . Some of the buyers could care less about the contents. Same with art and other collectibles. ^^^with exotics eBay is often a good advertising tool^^^
I tend to agree. 415k and reserve not met! Wonder who's buying this car! Anyway, a good outcome for the seller, quadrupling his money in a year or so.
Roy you said "very very". Couldn't you stop at just greedy? Don't be doing a "Trump" on this sweet-as-pie forum please... Geno
LOL...at least we got an answer.. congrats to you if it sells..no when should have to be sorry they made money on an investment Roy
And a little birdie has told me this car HAS SOLD and is on its way to the good OLD USA!! Congrats to the new owner at what I think was a very very good buy...I only see appreciation $$$ on this one... Good job...and you know who you are...
Strange market indeed, Kidstones dd will be in the Us low 400$,very nice fantastic color combo, low km , and on and on , This car was bid to 435$and needs 150$-200$in work kidstone s car is gone( acc to Roy) IoW one less car on the market, who ever bought Genos car,i am shure have a plan.
I am rounding up the eruo for sales and this ebay sale, just wait a couple of month for the 800K ... these are strong sale numbers
Well, it takes about 2 years to restore this $435k car. Ending up at approx $600k? Let's talk about it in two years from now!
The car can only be valued when the restoration is complete in a year or two (or even more), and who knows what these will be worth then? It might be worth $1 million on one hand, and it might be worth $300k on the other hand, who knows? The assumptive notion that values will keep going up forever & ever is nothing short of naïve in the extreme. That said, if you restore a car on the basis of nothing more than a labor of love, who cares what its value is? I recommend the latter position.
Thanks for the clarification Scott. It will be interesting to see what the Anniversary's at Pebble Beach sell for. With respect to a previous question regarding DD Anniversaries, only 160 US spec Fuelies came to the U.S., 17 went to Canada. The majority of the rest of the 657 were DD's that went to the ROW. When you state the facts it's clear to see that despite what some claim, the USA Anniversary is a very rare car indeed. If you factor in how many of those have left to go over seas to Japan, Malaysia etc. and subtract the ones destroyed or salvaged - it narrows the field even more. If you want an unmolested, original that hasn't been subject to an over restoration and is in pristine shape, low miles with a complete service history- the market narrows further. The Anniversary at RM auctions sold for $452,000 at the end of May. I think it had 2000 miles on the clock.
Hmm... So, my 1990 injected car is one of 17 sold in Canada? Does anyone know the breakdown between 1989 vs 1990 models? I guess the last thing would be, how many 1990 injected cars were there worldwide, then just Canada. I bought a US version owner's manual recently, what should my car have been delivered with when new? Would it say "Canada Version" on the cover?
