If it was the same driver ... er, time for a change, the guy must be an idiot to crash the same car, twice for the same reasons. Even this guy must have not been thinking ... 'cause surely in the back of your mind you would have the reason for the last crash firmly etched. I've smashed one of my own club cars on cold tyres, so I know it is easy to do ... but I only ever did this once! One has to learn from your mistakes to improve. Pete
That's the problem with Laguna...you never know from day to day how your sound will measure. Really annoying. Gary
Pete: Art didn't crash his F50 GT the first time, Johannes von Overbeek (speed gt porsche driver) did. Better to drive it and crash it than let it sit in and rot. Too bad the other two are absolutely worthless to their owners. --Dan who can't understand the "it's art" argument
Couldn't agree more ... maybe they should get these drivers together so they can swap war stories I definitely would be putting a big note on the steering wheel saying: 'fncken dangerous pig on cold tyres ... take it easy for many laps!!!!' Pete
In-car videos will be posted this weekend. Including some of my fast laps, 360 GT, F50 GT1, 166, 275, Enzo, and etc... Also my spin and the F50 spinning right in front of me. Brian and I were passing a Stradale today and he got a little loose, that might be a good clip.
Also had one of the thrills of my life. Drove a vintage Ferrari for the first time! During the helmet off laps I traded rides with a Lusso! He had never driven a modern Ferrari or even a Ferrari race car, so I'm not sure who was more excited. A great experience both ways.
Henry, I have asked Rob Lay if it's poss to break the event down by day and link the pics .I have also offered to help do it
Da Boss is da boss............LOL! I'll admit...... it is hard for those of us who've never attended...you're looking at something without knowing exactly what/where it is..... Unless it's a million dollar car torn to he11...that's pretty easy to recognize.. I think I'd tape the Bill of Sale to the steering wheel pSk..THAT would work for me!!! At least on a F50GT it would.....
Hey Rob you can upload sound bytes on to Ferrarirosso.com so we can all have the privilege of hearing it
I'm speech less !! Thanks for so many pics..To bad for the 2 crashes, I was with Art when he came to colorado with oo1. It's a risk that we all take when we go out !!! Glad that we have no injuries. Thanks to all Roland F40LM
I have a feeling, if you will, that this picture will never make it here, until the "official sources" give a release of their own. The severity of posting it prior without consent, would affect our members in a bad way. If you are sending email and asking him to see it, please don't ask him anymore! I have not seen it either. I am relaying information from a conversation, that it will NOT be posted. If you did not get the invite to view to car, then like myself and the rest of us will have to wait.
August 13 was kind of a blur. I put a note on the dash of my Grigio 328 with my Fchat login name. No contacts, but I did yalk to a few people, including the Lamborghini test driver, which was nice. On my way out of the CI venue, the unexpected happened. GTO84 (Kris) saved me at CI in Monterey this weekend. My 328 overheated and was leaking water. Luckily for me, Miguel Cela of AutoAffair in Danville (car boutique) told me Kris was at CI, so I got on the cell and called him as he was starting to think about leaving. He drove to where I was (near the Youth Center) and diagnosed a split in the hose for the water heater. Fortunately, it was at the attachment point, so, using my Gerber folding knife and the car's toolkit, he cut off the damaged part and reattached it. Because the hose was obscured by other hoses and parts, it was a hassle to get at. Rumor has it that Kris will be starting work at Veloce Motorsports in Campbell (South Bay).
I saw a red 288 GTO at my mechanics Monday. He was up in Monterey this past weekend. He told me a large group of 288 GTOs drove a distance while there. He said it was neat. Did anyone else see a bunch of 288 GTOs? Never drive less than 12 cylinders
Bart, Do you know how many cylinders a 288 GTO has? The answer seems at odds with your "signature" quote. KevFla
