Awesome line-up of GTOs ... Is it possible for you to provide a link to a high res picture of the complete GTO lineup Thanks in advance
I leave Monterey tomorrow a little tired, a lot broke, a little heavier, but with a huge smile. This has been just a great experience between the people, cars, events, and driving Laguna Seca. I don't want to see any people, food, or a car all weekend! Today at the track was nice. Many only did the Wednesday track day, so we got more time today. Actually 3 sessions for the Red group. Also fun to play with some of the other Challenge cars. I would love just to have a couple more days playing with the other Challenge cars and those experienced with Laguna Seca without the noise restriction. Made the complete first session by shifting to 5th up from T5. Second session got meatballed with 2 laps left. Last session only made less than half the session. The Challenge race was today. 45 minutes, not too much passing action. Only 3-4 spins the entire race and no contact, so they didn't live up to their reputation. #51 led from the start. 2nd place was the red #40 and would get close, but then #51 would pull away again. Most entertainment was watching #28 catch the back markers late in the race after a big spin and stall first lap that put him 60 seconds back of the field. Best I could tell he moved up to 9th of 15 starters by the end.
I think there is a new apartment complex near the track that is threatning to sue if they dont restrict the sound. Its complete BS b/c the track was their first.
Thank the greenies As Rob and others have stated the noise emitting from your car does vary depending on weather (and even wind direction, etc.) ... thus it is a real pain in the butt. I was pinged years ago for like 2 db over (at a NZ track), but luckily a lot of cars were pinged and they let it slide ... blaming the weather and they did not think the residents around the track would notice. I did though replace the muffler straight after this meeting as championship points were involved ... and me would not be very happy, and also not into this lifting off the gas BS. A lot of guys that race in NZ point their pipes straight down to the grown for this reason ... would look funny on a Ferrari, but it could mean the difference between really restrictive muffler or NOT, and thus HP. Pete ps: The other trick is to ensure your exhaust points out the side of the car that is NOT on the noise meter side ... thus you need to have your mates looking for the noise guy ... and some sort of clever exhaust.
that seems lame, of course it's easy for me to say because I don't live there, althought I doubt I'd complain anyways I'd just watch
Dunno whose Enzo, but Nika's an FChatter/Owner/Journalist/and Bad Ass RacerChick...got a great site too! Check it out for more info... http://www.racerchicks.com/misc/about.html
I guess maybe Nika doesn't want to pay for the $100k brake job, when she drove an Enzo in Toronto, she wrote this: "The huge Brembo carbon-ceramic rotors and specialized brake pads give a firm pedal feel, while their compounds are intended to minimize brake dust — technology taken directly from Michael Schumacher's F1 car. They're not always needed, though. Engine braking alone slows this car real fast." I guess wear on the engine makes more sense than wear on the brakes.
THAT would explain the size of the rock on her finger.... Poor Carbon, his love for both the enzo and Nika... that guy better be careful the McCoy clan can get nasty...
Funny how that works! LOL! Only about $32K for the brakes I thought....... Congrats to Mr. and soon to be Mrs.! Ahhh .......the smell of love, sex, and gasoline and CCF brake pads! Call me an old romantic!
Pass the Royal Purple and the Lexol......... What's the China Pattern? Where's the Registry? I have this great stuff from England......Black/White checker! We only use it in the Wicker basket for the Indy 500....a family tradition... Dansk is our every day pattern....of course after the divorce mine only seats four.......
Did anyone mention that they apparently drove it from Toronto, a total of 5,000 plus miles round trip? That's what someone told me. Seems like trailering it would be more of the real story, especially if they brought a Challenge car. They whipped out a TO license plate as they were leaving the F-chat dinner. Are the 4 point harnesses legal in Canada btw?
Does anyone know where next year's FCA annual meet will be, is there a site or something that shows where they will be the next couple of years? David
