Another one to avoid; [email protected] - uses the name Edward Pratt. Recommended to me by someone on this page with an offer of a cage for a 348. Once I had put all his pictures through image reverse checker - and saw they were other folks' old adverts - obvious scammer. The identity of the FC user who contacted me - was ' userg '
I just got scam by this gentleman. HE register so he can look at our buy/sell requests and play his trick. Image Unavailable, Please Login
smith060 what an idiot I was trusting this "gentleman". This is his email, very similar to the one post above: [email protected]
He did it well.......stupid me. When he kept offering more FF parts and the pics were all wrong from different models ....I understood....too late......
We currently are dealing with this issue right now. We have a posting up for a set of Borrani Wheels for an Aston DB4. Somehow the post was hijacked and another Ferrari Chat member somehow was connected with the hijacked scammer and he sent them a deposit. Now he is out the money and finally got in touch with me and found out I was not who he was dealing with. I was floored as he told me this whole story. This crazy internet brings out the best and the worst in people. So yes even here on the forum - there are potential crazy things happening! Tom
Scammer called me form 206-712-1599. He claimed he had red TR with 37,000 miles. I asked for him to send me pictures and service history, he asked to my email and guess what… He copies 1990 on a car sold few years back. The photos he sent didn’t match the info. He called it tomato red. Lol He used the name Antonio Mancini with email [email protected] I called him the next day and the phone dialed to overseas ring tone. He picked up and asked if he can call me back. I told him to take a video of the car, show the VIN and put me in contact with the last mechanic who serviced the car since the information he provided me didn’t match the car in the photo. Needless to say I have not headed back. Be careful. Image Unavailable, Please Login
New Scam Warning! There's been a recent surge (about 5-6 ads in the last week) in car for sale scams on Ferrarichat. The pattern is as follows: - New user subscribes at the Rossa or Silver level immediately and then posts a car for sale - The photos and description are often cribbed from some Craigslist ad from somewhere - Of course there's no car and any wire transfer would be gone (fortunately the scams were reported before it got to that point) So what's new here is that the scammer is willing to pay a site subscription fee and publicly advertise a "For Sale", whereas in the past the scammers just tried to use the PM system to offer unsuspecting buyers the scam. Be sure to do lots of due diligence and verification before wiring funds! Caveat Emptor!
I just want to officially state as administrator it is our opinion this single user was trying to scam, but was not successful, the buyer user reported it before wiring the money.
Yes, as far as we know, none of the ads were successful in scamming our users. The ads were deleted as soon as we were notified. (I edited my warning post to make that more clear).
I was an idiot even though I did my home work. I sent Zelle and then everything got deleted. Used two email addresses [email protected] [email protected] responded to someone else’s ad for seats (either that or he had been sitting waiting for over a year) shame on me, but he will go to hell.
He copied this listing. I didn’t look at the screen name because I though I was dealing with the same person. This is still up Image Unavailable, Please Login
Admin- the idiot idiot is still emailing me for more money! I am trying to play it cool to see if he still has a sn
cm2 is a legitimate user I believe. We did ban someone doing scams with the [email protected] email address recently. You should contact the authorities in your area and see if they can help.
He is still representing himself as cm2. What authorities would you suggest? Here is a seemingly bogus FedEx tracking slip. with the number blacked out. does CM2 correspond with the name and address that’s on the label?john Lynch? Thanks for your help. Image Unavailable, Please Login
one guy called David Bail tried to sell (two days ago) a 308 16" rim I have at home, all on FB 208/ 308 /328 GTB GTS page. He not only stole my pictures and claimed he owns something it's my property, but he even told they were four and not only one... Today he was also attemping to sell two 512 TR seats All items at too low prices. Pay attention Ciao
At this point how is it even possible to verify any sale? You can’t get identifiable information associated with screen names. This person posed as a legit seller with a strong history.
Buy from long time members or at least don't buy items sold at the half of the usual market price and always ask for some pictures taken the same day with a present day newspaper aside the item and check if the picture is photoshopped. A proper Fchat member knows which are more or less the correct selling prices so he doesn't put for sale any item at an half or a third of its price: a full set of four 16" original Campagnolo rims for a 1980 308 GTB at 1500 USD them all!! That's a fraud, of course: it's the price of a rear 16x 8" single rim! Ciao
