One security method I like to use is pay by check. With a check, the seller has to provide a real address and with that information, the seller can be researched to see if they own the home or if it's just a dead drop. It's slower and some may not want a check because of the time involved but if it's a valid seller with an item they actually want to sell, they'll accept a check. I won't have any of those money apps on my phone since I could lose the thing or it could be stolen and then someone empties my bank account. Not fun.
The @F_driver account is currently under investigation and temporarily banned for safety. It may have been hacked in late October and might not currently be under the control of the legitimate account holder. Please do not send any funds to this account based on recent payment instructions. All the best, Andrew.
I suspect that this user: BMW271 is a scammer. They responded to my WTB add via PM with a set of Novitec lowering springs. In subsequent texts the user was only able to share the same photo of the springs for sale, refused to send video of the springs and when I asked them for a timestamp video with the springs they sent a clearly photoshopped timestamp written on the same photo they kept using. Beware Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Got another: Richard Bein [email protected] "I am interested in purchasing your used Parts for Sale, please let me know if you still have it available, current condition and your best offer price. I will come for the pick up at your location. Thank you and get back to me soon! Richard"
Name and email don't return any results. If this was through PMs, please submit the username. If it was through email, it's not something we can address, other than to warn others about it.
Thank you Yin, but this is best I can do, as it was an email that I posted, not a PM, and you can appreciate the stereotype message, etc, etc. This is just for warning others... Kind regards, Alberto
I posted this in another thread, 3 main scams we have seen on FerrariChat. Let me know if others. Email offline - Figure your email out and offline send you a message pretending to be "the seller on FerrariChat". Hack Account - Change pw or user has been inactive for years. Hacker has 100% control of account and then acts as a seller. This is harder to sniff out as user can appear as around longtime with plenty of other activity. Hack and Share Account - Hacks account, but doesn't change pw and real user is still active with the account too. Sometimes this is easier to figure out when real user notices posts or pm's that weren't theirs. There isn't much you can do about #1 except be aware and as extra security confirm with actual seller by PM if they contacted you offline. #2 and #3 are users who haven't changed their pw in a long time and use the same pw at another site that got hacked (like Vertical Scope F-Talk/L-Talk) have been hacked several times including passwords. FerrariChat has never had passwords hacked like Vertical Scope. https://krebsonsecurity.com/2017/11/2nd-breach-at-verticalscope-impacts/
A very long time user got hit by #2 yesterday. A scammer took over the account and then posted 3 ads. He got immediate responses to purchase and at least one user was taken. Fortunately, a suspicious user notified us and we were able to verify the hijack, delete the ads, and lock the account. Working now to recover the account for the legit user.
Just received a message from this guy and it smells like a scam. His email already pops up on Google and Here it's marked as scam: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/rear-window-cover-for-first-aid-kit.3136120/ Here he has a completely different name and pretends to sell air soft guns: https://www.airgunforum.ca/forums/topic95049.html Plus, he claims to be born in '64 on FChat but the email ends with "54" His only thread on this forum feels like a copy paste, check this out: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/new-gated-430-spider-owner-need-fuse-help.689373/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/rear-glove-box-fuse.673696/ And yes, I'm VERY suspicious towards strangers but it feels like it's the right way to do it! Nigerian scammer. Banned. Note that posts, whether public or private conversation, can be reported directly to moderaters by using the "Report" button that is on every post. The next avaliable moderaters can then research the user.
Add [email protected] and [email protected] to the scammer list as well. The guy tried to emulate an Fchatter selling a shirt and contacted me directly via email.
I can confirm. He stole my pictures of my LED lights ad as well as used my name for his false idendity. The question which remains. How did he get the e-mail-adresses of the Fchatters he contacted directly? Best from Germany Martin
posted on FerrariChat. searched username or name listed on FerrariChat profile elsewhere on internet. Reminder other forums like F Life and M Life (Vertical Scope) have been hacked and if your username matches, then they'll know your email and your password if the same. FerrariChat passwords have always been encrypted, but Vertical Scope did something stupid by extracting all logins and passwords from each forum Db into a central Db that wasn't encrypted. they just sent email through FerrariChat system, they will only know your email if you respond to it.
we are still getting users taken by this scam. do not communicate with "sellers" off FerrariChat because it is a scammer, not the real seller!
[email protected] aka Todd German aka [email protected] is also using AlfaBB.com for spreading his trouble.
I was scammed by this person pretending to be someone on Ferrari Chat. My credit card company is working on it. Here’s the information I have on the scammer. BE ON THE LOOKOUT !!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Email addresses are not anywhere on this site. Did you get a user name? I did find Devin Tremaine in Texas pretty easily.
He did use a members user name, but I don’t want to post it on here. I talked to the real user and it wasn’t him. I added some pictures of the scammers info that I found. My credit card company is going to take care of it !!! His PayPal account used [email protected] so I’m sure this information is correct. He also has an account here, I don't know under what name. He sent a furious email when I twigged halfway through the scam and posted his emails here.
