    Hi,

I've just changed the oil on my 85 308 QV. Anybody know what torque you are supposed to tighten the oil drain plug when you put it back on ?

    Thanks in advance

Looked for an actual # for you but in the two manuals I looked at I found none. Just sinch it slightly, just remember it is going into aluminum and you ain't launching a space shuttle, it's just a drain plug.

Can anybody give me a hint as to how much ?

I have an oil leak - so I'm pretty sure it isn't tight enough. That being said, the other day I over torque a nut and that turned into a nightmare - so I'm a little paranoid

    I remember reading somewhere 20 ft/lbs - does that seem reasonable ?

    Thanks in advance

    Jason

Using a new crush gasket or a heat treated old one, turn it until you feel it 'give' a little. That happens to be at about 20 foot pounds. By the way, the 'give' is the gasket distorting, not the threads shearing.
