    Pretty cool!

What was the original reason to cut it open to examine it?

I'm fitting a 6 speed sequential racing transmission to the engine, and the casing on the new trans clashed with the bottom of the oil tank. Therefore, the angle grinder made an appearance!

I vaguely recall seeing a Ferrari race series car —maybe 360–with a Hewland box. Sequential dog box?

That will be cool. Which gear box are you using?

That's right, the 360 and 430 race cars used Hewland transmissions. I'm using the Holinger MFT, which is the same box as the Brabham BT62. It's rated to 750Nm for 24hr endurance racing, so should be fine!

Are you doing the 24 hour at the Green Hell?

No, this engine and transmission are going into my GT40 replica.
