Has anyone had a failure of either the gauge or the sender unit? These are fairly simple devices and would seem to be bullet proof. I am getting no indication on mine (512tr '92) and upon test am getting zero ohms from the sender and about 200 from the gauge - so my guess is a fialed sender?

My sending unit failed on 01 360. Not sure if they are same part but to answer question, yes they fail.

    your guess is right.

I've found the gauge runs in the middle with 100ohms approx but it was a while ago I did this

I have replaced the oil temp sender (Veglia) on my previous 78 308GTS...I also replaced the speedo sender. I would guess that 90% of the time it is the sender, not the gauge that is the problem. The oil temp sender was cheap, perhaps $15 from T.Rutlands a few years ago. It came in the yellow box with the black horsies and everything....
