Good afternoon, been researching and reading up on the 456 and finally decided to start a hunt for one. I formally owned a ‘99 355, had a kiddo, and it fell out of use so I sold it, but here I am again a few years later looking for another Ferrari, this time something my whole family can fit in and it seems the 456 M GTA ticks the most boxes for me at this point. I have found one that peaks my interest on several levels and it just so happens to be an easy day trip to visit. If anyone knows the car or has experience with Lakeway Motors in MO, I would greatly appreciate the feedback. Some discrepancies on the photos raises some eyebrows (some photos have yellow wheel caps and some have silver), but I thought reaching out to the community would be wise before contacting the seller. Thanks in advance for any knowledge that you can throw my way. I look forward to the hunt. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-Ferrari-456-GTA/372739084280?hash=item56c8fb0ff8:g:I5YAAOSwZDpdL4FN

The first few photos are from The Sports Car Company in La Jolla, CA. I suspect that Jim Lyons had the car listed at some point. Mixing photos like that and not stating such is a giant red flag to me. May be legit, but I'd be very cautious. The car looks good in some photos, but I'd want a very thorough PPI and eyeballs on target before even considering it. On the other hand, the TdF car above is incredible. There are a couple of other very nice examples on the market right now. Don't be hasty, do your due diligence, and research research research. Do a search on the forum, you'll find a wealth of info on the 456 model. Read the buyers guide, a couple times. It is invaluable.
Can u point me in direction of low mile ones like mine? Trying to figure out where to price mine. Thanks
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me like there have been a wide range of pricing. Other than condition, I assume that the auto v manual factors in to that range as well. I have seen $100k+ all the way down to high the one list for $39,500. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Ferrari-456M-GTA/223599383709?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dc81e9faf304847b78e24b92bb062833b%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D372739084280%26itm%3D223599383709%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2481888&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A5d1bf42d-ca53-11e9-9336-74dbd180fa64%7Cparentrq%3Add378a7c16c0a9cadb834ea9ffdd5450%7Ciid%3A1 I would like to hear how the current list prices are be determined as well.
From what i have seen in 360 space, sticks have come down back to earth. In 355 space stick carries a healthy premium but as you said condition, history and miles are the big factors in what someone willing to pay for a car. In my eyes a perfect 456 is 95k, perfect 612otk is 130k and perfect last model year FF is 170ish.
Is your M really a 2003?! If so, a very rare car. How much do you want for it? Asking for a friend. Seriously, though, I would price that car at $69-72K and see what happens. An educated buyer would know what he's looking at. I see Daytona seats with colored inserts, but no fender shields. Any other options? Full list of property with it? Service records? Heck, I might be tempted.
Yes its a 2003. That why I bought it. Have to check the file but i only by cars with service history and low owners. Ill look for the sticker. I dont get shields on my 2+2. All stock outside of the bradan y pipe he made for a bunch of us a few years ago. Crappy cars are in the 60s. No way im selling this for 20k more than a crappy car! 90k takes it. Well it would have to be a really right buyer at that price, but if you're patient and not in a hurry to move it, you could probably get that. It's just too close to a pre-OTO 612 for me.
pretty sure i have luggage too. have to go to the garage and check. the underbody doesnt look like the car has ever been driven. and it has ppf on the front and sides.
maybe they will take 25k off: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Ferrari-456-M-GTA/233328441481?hash=item3653757889:g:a8cAAOSwDQ1c~r8v i wld venture to say there are no true 60k cars - prob need to drop 10k to 15k if not more into one that hasnt been taken care of.
If I had never had a 456M before, I would buy it. But BTDT and I'm looking for a different experience. After my vacation, I'm going to get my 308 semi-restored and sacrifice it for dirt cheap if this car is still available. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=470293498&zip=78217&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D78217%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceDESC%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26marketExtension%3Don%26modelCodeList%3D612SCAGLIE%26makeCodeList%3DFER%26searchRadius%3D0&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=612SCAGLIE&makeCodeList=FER&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=FER&modelCode1=612SCAGLIE&clickType=listing Red and tan is NOT popular with 612's, which I find hilarious, but most 612 guys are more sedate than I am.
How about all cosmetic? There are no FHP or other performance options for the 456s, unless you want to count the drilled rotors. Even the Bicolore (Schumacher) package was cosmetic. ha true - what is the dedication plate? i have a little one on the right side of the passenger dash and im glad i have the standard black calipers!
On most late Ferraris, you can order a silver dedication plate and Ferrari would engrave whatever you wanted on the face. Within reason, of course.
Update! I have pulled the trigger on a 456M GTA and will share pictures of the car and an update on the process once I get it safely home sometime in the next week or so. I have been reading a lot of posts on the 456 and planning some standard to-do items. I am looking forward to joining the 456 group and I will try to update as things progress. Hopefully I can post some meaningful content for everyone. This place has been a wealth of knowledge and greatly appreciated.
