It's not that there's a "problem", the fact is, the policy WAS stated by Rob repeatedly and MaranelloDave violated that stated policy. It's all a matter of the letter of the law/rule. Dave committed a serious violation, and he just needs some old western style justice to "rein in" his high spirited prancing horse. So Dave will just have to pay for his photographic posting sins by staring at this photograph of Billy Boy Clinton's library here in downtown Little Rock. Let's face it, there's firewalls, co-workers, supervisors, families, recent history, announcements, whatever - not the site owner/administrator's personal taste that is the reason for this 1-day nothing-is-sacred but making sure the firewalls, co-workers, families, supervisors, whatever - don't give an F-Chatter a hard time for viewing the site, let alone - getting in the site. Rob seems to pick his targets with a random number generator, but then it IS his board. Gonna play in someone else's sandbox, you have to use their shovel. And I don't necessarily agree that Dave's actions define "trolling." He may have used a common troll tactic, but someone in a respectable position on the board isn't a troll. And Carbon (weird, but it is his name): You can't be serious, right? You had three choices: 1) take the high road, ignore it and move on, 2) practice the art of the insult, nothing quite so enjoyable as a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent, no foul language necessary, and 3) pull out every cheap, disgusting, vile and otherwise despicable analogy you can and do the "I know I am, what are you, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you" first-grade level contest. I could not agree with this more. NNO, you were not forced to do anything. You lost your cool and made an ass of yourself, while also managing to bring the quality of Fchat down a few rungs. You decided to participate in the flame war. You could have simply not posted, yet you did anyway. Do not try to transfer the blame onto anyone else or claim that you had no choice and were forced to do what you did. You have to accept responsibility for your actions man. What you did was wrong.
The Maranelloman has been banned? This cannot be! Dave is one of the nicest people that I have met on FChat. This man has helped me at track events @ TWS, has the best sense of humor & is very helpful with others. Has been a great watch dog for this site, cutting out all the bull****ers & keeping them in line. Dave helped make this site a great place & kept it interesting. Can some post the link that started this ban so I can get an idea of what the hell happened?
Rob, I have been out from ~1:30 until now (9:30). Your email was in my in box...I will respond to it here, for simplicity. No, there was nothing in the screen I saw about being banned, nor was there a clock indicating for how long. I found out both by erasing all cookies, logging out as M-man, and looking at the Bikini thread as an unregistered observer. There, I saw your post about me being banned for a day. Perhaps you could have emailed me to tell me you had yanked my picture instead of banning me WITH NO NOTICE? Good grief. The last time, you said No Penetration, not No Topless. Don't you remember?? wow. that whole janet jackson thing really has got everyone up in arms, huh? it's ironic to think that, for so long, "the board" put up with obvious morons/troublemakers/trolls like gary green (and his batallion of schizophrenic personalities) and yet, dave is the one used to set a precedent? in this case, i think the subject matter should have been objectified (no pun intended) rather than the individual; infractions against the "establishment" notwithstanding, dave is a long time member of value and merit. i see this eddict of discipline to be a bit heavy handed -- mis-directed, perhaps?

Dave - You have been a fantastic contributor and I for one would absolutely want you to stay. I am however puzzled by your position in this thread. If you go and Read the sticky thread in GFD where Rob describes the things he is doing to make this a better place, he stated the rules. Furthermore, he described timeframes for implementation. He also stated that transgressions would result in temp bans even if you are a veteran user. All he's trying to do is clean this place up - which is what got you upset in the first place. So why come down on him when he is trying to make it a better place for everyone (you included) Now it may seem heavy handed what he did to you. But you read that thread and knew the rules. Furthermore, you said Rob's site, Rob's rules. Now he shoulda put Carbon in the temp ban (for a few days to cool off) as well. But this is a work in process. I want you to stay but you also have to play by the rules. If you cant, then this may just be too much hassle for you. Hope you have a good weekend/

This reminds me of the time when I was a sysadmin and was ordered to delete ~4Gb of downloaded MP3 files from a user's local drive. It was "time to make an example" despite the other more egregious infractions by a number of other users. Corp. decided that the legal liability of the "stolen" music was more of a problem than the graphic porn being archived by others (yes I knew about those and had reported them, but not the evil music downloaders), and told me to do it. Cost me a couple of good friends who still don't like me to this day. This board is just going through typical growing pains -- comraderie followed by flame wars, then indignation and accusations, then people leave, the "quality of the board" goes down, yadda yadda, then starts to recover and begin the cycle again.
