Great! Welcome! I guess your knowledge comes in handy during the conceptstage and further. Please give the designers input about what can and cannot be done and supply us with ideas, alternatives of any kind.
Porsche Cayman is a good target. Smaller than the F430, shuld sell for 25% less. V6 with both? Anyone do that today?
VW does 170 hp with a twincharged 1.4 4cil. Imagine that! I believe Mercedes is working on something similar for their SLK...?
TVR Tuscan / T350 Engine: Displacement: 3996cc / 3605cc 6-cylinder inline alloy engine with 4 valves per cylinder and dry sump lubrication Max Power: 365 bhp @ 7000 rpm / 350 bhp @ 7200 rpm Max Torque: 290 ft.lbs @ 5500 rpm / 290 ft.lbs @ 5500 rpm Dimensions and weight: Length overall: 4235 mm / 3974 mm Width overall (inc. mirrors): 1810 mm / 1835 mm Height overall: 1200 mm / 1195 mm Ground clearance: 102 mm / 100 mm Weight: 1100 kg / 1187 kg Performance data: 0 to 60 mph: 4.2 seconds (Tuscan S - 3.8 seconds) / 4.4 seconds 0 to 100 mph: 9.0 seconds (Tuscan S - 8.1 seconds) / 9.5 seconds Max Speed: +160 mph / +160 mph
So far, the Cayman would be the most similar to a proposed Dino, primarily because of the mid-engined layout and size.
I think this is incredibly fascinating and great fun. I am a professionalphotographer. If I can help in some way I would love to. Bob
taking pictures of my car would help. lol so, Michiel Mobiel, what is the goal of this. to make a ferrari, that is not exactly a ferrari because it isnt on the cutting edge of car technology? make it a little underpowered, but nonetheless a fun car? does this mean that we cant push the envelope aerodynamically (such as aggressive venturi tunnels like on the enzo, F430 and 360 CS? and powerplant wise, we cant do something radical like a TT 3.0l V6 making 450bhp because that would be a close rival for current ferraris? just trying to get a feeler for the project (and hopefully not making offensive statements to dino owners)
if they look, the i suppose we'll technically be showing them. i suspect they wont, so i wouldnt worry about it. you're right ferraris arent designed by customers. this isnt a ferrari, its a dino (but thats a matter of semantics) also we're not designing a car for ferrari, we're evidentially wasting our time making pictures, for fun. perhaps you missed the idea behind this. we're not building a car. we're building an idea. and the alleged experts (which are in fact experts, i'll disregard the lack of respect) like me are donating their time for fun. hell, i cant work with planes all day - as interesting as they are - i always come back to cars to relax i wasnt aware than an idea required strenght analysis. well, i suppose you could find the max shear force, such that while using a pencil you do not pucnture the paper. or the torque generated at the knee as someone's foot hits your a$$ everyone dreams. some people pursue them to have them come to fruition, some dont. you know just because you are selfish, doesnt meant that the rest of the world is; i would gladly donate hundreds of hours to this for aero analysis and strength analysis for free (assuming there was no profit to be made from the design), just to make one picture. i would print it out (or have a print made) and hang it on my wall. even if only one person my whole life asked what that was and i could say, "i helped design that", and they complimented it. it would be worth it you know the old saying "if you have nothing nice to say, dont say it". perhaps you should take that advice, or i suppose we could petition to have you banned from this thread or the forum. if ou dont like how we are wasting our time, click "back", and look at something else. its a free internet, nobody forced you in here
http://wishingfish.com/coal.html Need a Security Guard? How about a Numbers Cruncher? I can crunch numbers with my bare hands. Look: 8 *CRUNCH* 3 I crunched that eight into a three.
Please take it not too serious, leave that guy alone. Hey, he's gone allready... Let's get on with our Dino.
Yes, you're absolutely right. But let's not forget to look at the other competition while designing our Dino. It will be a Ferrari, so it should sweep all the competition away. Welcome. You can work together with Tifosiron. What do you suggest? Can you start doing some research on what and how our Dino should be according to the latest trends? When the car is finished, you can shoot the press-pictures. Maybe you can do something for me personally. I can allways use some great photo's. It is still a Ferrari, so it should be on the cutting edge. I can't see why not. If it fits a modern Dino according to the marketeers and designers, I think we should push that envelope as far as we can. It's going to be a modern car with modern handling and performances and when venturi's and stuff like that seem to be nescessary, we should not hesitate to implement it in the design. Please tell us what we can do without adding a rear wing to it. All options are still open and all your ideas will be discussed in the conceptstage. First you can do now is to give the designers as many tools as possible to work with. It is all about sharing the passion and learning from eachother's expertise. Tell us all we need to know and what you think we should use, but most important, tell us how and why.

Some tings to remember during the creative process: "Art starts where plagiarism ends." We are not doing a remake of the original Dino. We have to design a worthy successor; modern, new, innovative and a real and true Ferrari. Some quotes which are IMO very characteristic for PF's earlier and most timeless designs: "Simplicity is not the characteristic of the beginner. It's the hard persued signature of the master." "Simplicity is realising what you cannot omit." "Development appears where simplicity resides."
next dino idea maybe a " 326 Dino" only take the 430 engine and cut two cilinders away and have 3.2 litre v6 and have around 340 hp Image Unavailable, Please Login
Why not use the new Alfa Romeo Brera V6 engine?, it's a modern and light engine, powerful enough with possible upgrades. Should check the Hp. figures.
check the following for engine info: http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/cars/alfa_romeo/11/brera_launch/0511.html Alfa v6, 3.200 cc and 260 hp. Create a light car and the power is more than adequate, but power upgrades should be no problem...

Here are the data. Ofcourse we need all new cilinderheads, intakemanifold and exhaustsystem. Anyone knows the weight and measurements? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
