Hello again. Thank you all so much again for you kind words. After a few questions and comments I believe it’s important to give you a few more details regarding this “Dino” project. First of all, this project is not affiliated with Ferrari or Pininfarina in any way… unfortunately!! This is important for all of you to know! This project started here in the FCHAT as a challenge. “It would be a real challenge to recreate that icon…” that was what I thought in the first place! And as I really like challenges like this one, I couldn’t simply ignore it, right? The fact is that a Portuguese company that is starting their business, have shown interest in the designs I was making and that lead to the start of the adventure and a temporary abandonment of this thread! The full scale mock-up was entirely milled in a 5 axis CNC machine and finished by specialist personal at the CEIIA – Engineering Centre in Portugal - www.ceiia.com - , company that will also develop all the engineering work for the client. The CEIIA was, as Mr. James knows, the company that made and developed the wheels for his Ferrari P4/5 and other small items for his car in cooperation with Pininfarina! In fact, pininfarina knows them very well! At the moment is completely premature to talk about the final specifications of the car, but I’ve heard that an aluminium chassis and a V6 engine are the right choice Also a racing version might be possible… let’s wait and see! If you have interest in this project, you can contact them, or me of course, and the brand owner will be very glad to hear your comments! If you have any more questions and if I can answer them, I’m here! Regards from sunny Portugal, Ernesto Freitas www.lusomotors.com/new.htm
[comments, please! ] Well done Ernesto. Congratulations. I am looking forward to seeing it on the road. Regards from London.
The ideal car: Italian styling, British chassis and handling, Japenese engine/transaxle for reliablity. I'm not seeing any downsides to this combination. Also, Ernesto, this is the best looking Ferrari in the last 10 years.
Congrats Ernesto! I see images of the milled model. The comprimises from your sketches are few. I attach a link to more images of the model....I hope it is OK to do! Cheers Eric http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2007/07/13/****-ferrari-we-maken-zelf-wel-een-dino Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please, you must allways have in mind, that this car it's not a Ferrari!!! And I agree with the styling/handling/engine combination... Regards

I take back my previous post. I am sure Luca, Sergio and all of Italy have seen it by now! It really is brilliant, and getting the warm reception it deserves.
Ernesto, Your digital camera was broken? What a shame to post such poor quality pictures online of such a beautifull mock-up... Better luck next time! João Pinto
Congratulations. Great work, not great from your camera, but this is an spectucular project. I read it op autoblog.nl, where Autoblog the first new pictures let see from the Dino! Succes and pleasure with the Dino. Regards from The Netherlands, Rdesign
Hello all. This is my fist post, but I was looking at it just from the beginning of this thread. I've never had a comment, because there was a halt somewhere in the middle, when both Ernesto Freitas and Michiel suddenly went to work on other projects, as far as I remember. It was a pity! But after a quick look around, I've found that "our" Dino is on! There is all over the world in fact! This leads me to two different questions: Is Ferrari/Pininfarina aware of this thread? Isn't this car a good basis for the real Dino?? Man, I don't understand much bout car design, even less of commercial or financial questions, but this model seems to be what Ferrari should use in their next project! Probably adding a few details to increase Ferrari styling cues even more recognisable, but it's all there!!!! Read all the forums, blogs and sites around you will not be surprised with the reactions. Even Italians like it! And why shouldn't they, right? I know that the responsible and author of the this fabulous design is Ernesto Freitas, but the model was built in Portugal by a company named CEIIA Maybe Ferrari had already contact them to buy the project Ernesto, can you please tell us if is there any important things going on? And where can I put my deposit?
BTW: Is there any chance for us to see the car in a near future AutoShow? That would be fantastic. Maybe FCHAT want to sponsor that!
ernesto, i loved these sketches so much! your end product is very nice, but it's just not the vision in your sketches. i hate having to post this . . . but you did ask for comments, and i dont feel any purpose would be served by lying. wish you the best! jeff Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like that design the best. Too bad the prototype doesn't look like that. If it did, I would be interested.
I know what you mean! You must have in mind that the design had to follow a lot of constraints and hard points... Any way, here are a few more details and a few good pictures as promissed... Hope you like them! http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2007/08/03-retroconcept-vinci-sport/ Regards from Portugal, Ernesto Freitas
Congrats Ernesto... despite personal tastes,i think you are in the middle of a dream... designin and beeing involved in the development of a new brand and models must be an amazing feeling... now... when can we see SUV sketches congrats from the sunniest part of Portugal...Alentejo...
the word here in Portugal is that they are thinking on a SUV...but Ernesto is the right person to tell us if it's true....
in a current interview the developer of the project as admiited that possibility.... but let's see if Ernesto confirms it... they also have a larger brother the Vinci Gt http://videos.sapo.pt/QzhqKzESLqooZ9m17eJH
I'm probably not the right person to confirme anything... Check their website: www.retroconcept.com You can see what they are thinking to do in a near future... not affiliated though! Regards, Ernesto
I learned something today watching the vid: Portugues women are BEAUTIFUL. I gotta learn to speak Portuguese.
