Another rare car shows up! I had never seen this car and the only hint that I had of its existence was from a Japanese tourist couple that stopped by the shop to chat. This was a couple of years ago and he said that he had seen the car in a townhouse carport.

Just a few days ago, I got an e-mail saying that the owner was moving out of the house and if someone did not take the car, it was going to the crusher. The pictures actually flatter the car. It almost looks savable, but there is extensive structural rust. The engine, gearbox, differential, instruments are gone. Parts for these cars are so rare that I could not stand the thought of it being reduced to scrap metal. I was able to make a little space for it and will save as much as possible.

    Hi Mark and Wax

This is another Toyota Sports 800. Last year, I was able to get some drive train parts from a car on Maui that was much worse than this car. The fellow on Maui said that the car actually broke in half as he moved it onto a trailer. I did post a few pictures at that time. I guess that thread is several pages back by now.

This car has all of the glass (I do have all of the door glass). The screen wiper motor and assembly is there. The steering column, steering box, and front suspension is present. The rear axle housing, axles, hubs, and brakes are there. The differential unit is gone. I will save as much of the steel body as possible. The trunk lid, targa top, and hood are aluminum and in quite good condition.

I will attach another picture of the car that I own.

    Aloha

As time allows, I have been removing body parts from the Toyota. The pieces are not the best, but there are sections that would be very useful to someone that had a collision damaged car. As I work, I have to keep telling myself that it would have been true folly to have attempted to save the car.
