The speciale is just so great.
Just curious: did you put an aftermarket exhaust on your 488? I did a combo of Novitec exhaust plus Fabspeed sport cats and charge pipes and it literally sounds like an F1 at red line. Techs at my dealer told me it was best sounding 488 they've heard, but who knows if they were just being nice to me
I didn't do any exhaust modifications. I like to leave everything stock on my cars. I'm sure it sounds great with what you did, however, I'm not sure how you would be able to get that wail that sounds like the F1 cars, with a turbine spinning in the flow of the exhaust? I would love to hear it. Do you have a video to share? You might be able to change my mind! LOL
My buddy has a 488 with a titanium exhaust (can't remember which one) and it sounds amazing. If you buy a 488, budget 10k for a great exhaust and you will probably remove the 458 sound as a buying consideration. 488 can/does sound epic with the right exhaust setup. I love my 458 but I would absolutely not base the decision on which car to buy based on sound alone if an aftermarket exhaust is an option.
I don’t get the hate on the 488. I have some great sounding cars including the greatest Ferrari sounding car ever made with all the right exhaust modded “355” and the 488 with the setup I have is a very cool sounding beast. Certainly better than any 458 I have heard or driven. And I love the 458.
No hate. I meant it as a complement. A stock 458 sounds much better than a stock 488. Apparently you can mod out a 488 and make it sound amazing. I'm sure you can mod out a 458 and make it sound amazing. Point is, whoever modded out the 488 did a great job!
Stock to stock, I much prefer the sound of the 488 at lower RPM's (under 4,000). Of course I'll keep my mouth shut at higher RPM's, because it's no secret that at higher RPM's the 458 wins!
There used to be a guy who had a 355 that tracked it with the group I was with and yeah I agree what a killer sounding car...so angry and bositerious sounding.
Years ago I put a cappy stage 3 on my first 355 and I kept it at 8500 for so long that I blew the water impeller LOL! Sooo addicting, I can’t seem to upload a vid of my 488 sound. But it’s intoxicating.
