I have a 66 330 GT with paint color - Argento 25090 A It. (Silver ) Has anyone found a comparable today color or formula for this? I do have a very small sample of the orig color on my package tray - but thought i could start with formula etc.
All 1966 colors were nitrocellulose lacquer paints, which haven't been available for many years, yesterday's paints were urethane, today's are water based. Finding the exact toner and pigments today is not a reality. Gary Bobileff
Gary - totally agree with your POV......what i was driving at has anyone done any leg work with todays paints to match up the color and metallic for this? We have done a number of cars here in base coat clear, like Blue Sera etc and believe we have the correct mix/formula to replicate the color and look. So, just looking to see if any legwork has been done on the Argento 25090 - Silver for my car.
I went through this a few years on my 330 GT with the same original 25090 paint and came up with Argento Nurburgring, PPG 36520. See Painting (parrotbyte.com) for how I picked that color.
Kerry, exactly what im looking for! My package tray as well is original color, so we can do some spray outs and compare to this area - adjust from there. The metallic is key in this 60's era, getting the right size is important to have that period correct look. Thank you again
Ed flake is so fine almost non existent. Same with silver - Argento which I am going thru just now Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you howard - yes agree on the flake is very very fine, we saw this with the Blue Sera as well asl my Ellena car. What yr silver is that in your pictures?
Ed my painter does not use paint co.s formula as they are never correct for todays paint and tinters -- he mixes it himself from scratch. Here's where he matched original colour, preserved under 40 + years of engine bay black -- master painter near 50 years experience. Image Unavailable, Please Login
