Make the color change if you are going to repaint anyway. I do not think that the Queen Mother in red is a good color for the body. I also find diversity in the car colors, as they were originally produced, to be much more interesting than a sea of resale red.

Mark you car is so gorgeous as it is (probably one my favorite all time cars that I have worked on)!

That said you can never go wrong with original, IMO. I saw a picture of a 365 2+2 that was sky blue, let me look for it.

 

I think Celeste is a great choice. My C/4 is Azzurro Hyperion 2.443.648. Very close to Celeste. My interior is a light beige. I do not think black is best for that particular exterior color but original is original. Marcello

This chart is for the 275 GTBs. The 365 GT 2+2s were built by Pininfarina, not by Scaglietti.

Azzurro la Plata is the light blue one. Go TWO to the right and you will find Celeste Chiaro Metallizzato 106-A-26. HOWEVER: This Celeste here is NOT the one YOU need because yours is Celeste Gainsborough 2.443.625. Close but not identical. Yes, metallic.

how can I know if my 512 BB (C/N 20017) was originally painted in a full rosso chiaro or in the characteristic two tone paint? Actually the car is full rosso.

Only 24 Daytonas were painted Celeste 106-A-16 originally.
These 24 cars came with interior in Rosso 3171, Rosso Scuro 893, Nero 8500, Nuvola 3015 and Blu 3282.
However, there were only two of the 24 Celeste Daytonas that had the Rosso 3171 interior: #12825 and #15753.

I bow to the KING! Thanks Marcel, I knew it was unique. In all my years around Ferrari's I have never seen another Daytona like it. The interior photo is a bit off on the color due to the flash(the true color is way less orange/brite), but you get the idea. Thanks Again........ Mike

 

Would someone please post pictures of cars in these three colors? It is really hard to tell from Marcel's chart what these colors really look like. Thanks in advance.

Hi John........Please find attached but accept my apologies for far from perfect photos. I have chosen these as I believe the paint is original on each car. Further note paint shades changed through different manufacturers over the ages.......I am thinking that Celeste circa late 1970's was slightly lighter than Celeste in the early 1960's. However I hope this gives you a a good enough idea.

Find the best restoration or hot rod shop in your area and show them a color chart or card of the color you want. They should have a computer program that can match the color of your choice. This program should ,for example, be able to match a ten year old slightly faded paint color where the original factory color would not be correct. tongascrew
