What car has it? I’m thinking the 67 Penske Sunoco Camaro running at Roebling Road. While I was working corners, I delighted in the way it rumbled in my chest while it was so incredibly wicked smooth. It tripped my senses on every lap. Like great sex. Your best V8 sound experience?

For me, it's a tie between:

-Early McLaren Can-Am car I got to drive, also at Roebling Road, in late 2002

-Maserati 450 race car that I heard/saw on Alain DeCadenet's Victory By Design: Maserati episode

    Both gave me SERIOUS wood...

For many of us who are (even happily as your truly here...), using great sex analogy isn't a good frame of reference since we don't recall what it's like but my best V8 sound experience is the sound of the Chris Parr's F40 (member here)....As a matter of fact, I experienced it this last Sat. (the F40 sound I meant not...great sex).

355 spyder in a friend's car several years ago on winding country road in a sunny day. I got goose bumps all over.

Unfortunately, none of car rides gave me similar experience to you know what.

Oh, first time I drove my 911 Turbo, jet sound like engine impressed me so much, too. However, it was too high of a tone for me now.

Sitting in the Grandstand just before the start/finish line at Laguna Seca during last years historic races.

When they dropped the flag and a long line of Cobras, Shelby Mustangs, Tigers and Corvettes went by with the loud pedal on the floor it was HEAVEN!!!!

The difference in exhaust tone between a Cobra with side pipes and a GT350 with cross over is amazing. Same engines, same state of tune, radically different sound.

360 NGT at full RPM. Talk about sensory overload! Going delirious with adrenaline, head shaking, strapped in to the harness so tight your torso doesn't budge but your limbs want to swing out every turn. Got a good 10 laps riding shotgun.

Funny that people mentioned above what they did, because the first thing I said to the driver when we stopped was, "You know, I didn't think I could be a monk. But, if I could be a monk and drive one of these, I think I could survive."

Funny that this thread just came up, i was on my way home from the driving range today and heard a lovely v8 rumble, i turned and saw a beautifully restored cuda (not exactly sure what year) yellow, 340 , and it was blown is sounded awesome, so deep and low.

Seriously, I havent heard a 360GT in real life, but on TV they sound amazing. And the sound of a Cobra racer at full throttle in a warehouse... :O

A V8 is nice, but a V12 will grab your very soul and shake it. I love 'em.

A surprisingly large component of the sound of the engine is creaated in the intake and not in the exhaust.
