Man inside car is Joseph Siffert, not Peter Schetty. Pic was taken during movie Le Mans of Steve McQueen, not during the race. Marcel Massini
Alan, Incredible modelling!!! Complimenti! Sei un grande! Thanks to all for helping Alan out, even if only because I find this stuff so interesting David
Compliments for your beautiful Ferraris too! Specially I love your TR in that particoular tint! Thank you David! Your italian language knowledge is really advanced! "Sei un grande" (means: "you're fantastic in doing something") is quite a slang spoken form! If you speak italian currently, take a look here: http://realsystem.it/articoli/512s/index.html It's a small article I'm writing to explain how my 3D model was born, and how it grows. It's in italian, but language of images is universal I left you with an old rendering, made before the seats were modeled. Thanks to all! Alan Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Marcel... Since many many years, your name is associated with Ferrari history and I have also some of your books in my collection. I'm stunned about your knowledge and I take the opportunity through FerrariChat to say thank you for all the interesting documents and information you give to the Ferrari community since a long time. I don't know how you can say that this photo was taken during the film Le Mans... I cannot understant how you can say that the guy in the cockpit is Jo SIFFERT... For me it's undoubtedly Peter SCHETTY.
I add my thanks to Marcel and to Giotto for the great help they gave me in my 3D project with the photos they leave here! Absolutely thanks for sharing your images with all us! Alan
Favolosa...! Bravo Alan...! Forza Ferrari...! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Merci Francis! Je connais bien le francais aussi! last images are taken by the fantastic "Tribute to Jacky Ickx" website, if I'm right! www.jacky-ickx-fan.net I love it very much, and there I found tons of reference pics about the 512s! Now I'm enjoying a war with the fusebox! I have enough images of it, but its shape is really difficult to reproduce! Thanks! Alan
sorry Marcel, it seems to to me well to see Peter, and not Seppy. the hair and nose in particular. désolé Marcel, il me semble bien que c'est Peter qui est installé dans la 512 S, et non pas Seppy. la chevelure et le nez en particulier.
Your link only shows the thumbnail. This is the correct one: http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6996/interno19pp5.jpg Simply stunning! I wouldn't be surprised if the color of every wire was authentic
Thanks for the correction Far Out! I must admit that the color of every wire has been chosed in a wide range of primary tints (black-white-blue-green-yellow-red). I applied them randomly because it's impossible to see them correctly from original photos! Thanks! Alan
Alan, In a model this detailed, how many polygons are you working with? I know that Lightwave deals with massive polygon counts much better than other software, but I'm just curious as to how many you have so far.
Hi Alan! Seems you get some help on the French forum... I can't wait to see the yellow 512 S finished! Very good work Alan! Photo is from: http://82.165.32.230/mcklein4/index.php?index=2 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks guys! Yes, I had a great help by forum-auto.com. They're really prepared about lm cars and historical endurance prototypes. Really thanks to them! The polycount is 924635, just a bit less than 1 million. Lightwave is a good modeler, and in this moment with Luxology Modo, is the best modeler for working on super-high-poly meshes. In my office Lightwawe manages, without any problem, more than 1 million and an half polygons. The best part is the opengl interface, which allows very smooth rotations and translations in massive polycount situations. Bye and thanks for the image, Giotto! Alan
The wire thing was just a joke, I'm pretty sure back in the days at Ferrari, they didn't have a system according to which they choose the wire colors at all
I finished, after 3 month of work, the cockpit. I added the fire extinguisher, the rear glass panel, and some minor details! http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/2551/interno20ip9.jpg Tomorrow I'll post other renderings of the details, If I'll be able. Alan

Hello Alan, I knew i had some photo's (copyrightholder unknown) of a yellow longtail somewhere. I finally found them! I hope i'm not to late since you are working very fast! Best wishes, Stephan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Stephan! I've already that photos, but it's alwais great to see them! Thanks for the support! Someone know what's the chassis number of this beauty?! Me, I'm modeling the #1030, ex-Ecurie Francorchamps, once 512s but now 512m. Considering that photos you posted seems recent, and that the other yellow 512s/m is that owned by Escuderia Montjuich (#1002). That's strange: that recent photos shows a yellow 512s "coda lunga", and both the only yellow surviving are 512m! Maybe I'll transfer the question here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135391 Alan
I think you are right Alan, it's best to keep this thread as clean as possible. I therefor have send a private message to you, which answers your question. Kind regards, Stephan
