It sounds as if Sunday was a huge success. I wish I would have gone and Dave should take some credit because I have seen nothing but positive comments about it.

Andreas puts a lot together for us and has always been very welcoming. My first visit with you guys was a lot of fun and there were no odd personalities and very open talks. Its too bad Andreas always suggests F1 dinners and has very few replies.

In an attempt to capitalize on the morale from Sunday, and with the hope of such wonderful weather and with so many different Fcars now being thrown into the mix, maybe in the future we can help support the next suggestion of a F1 dinner. There has to be a place that is middle ground for everyone and a time all of us can agree upon. Even if it was for a quick stop at some burger shack ( I guess burgers could go with the German GP and fries anywhere with the French GP, hey is there a French GP this year? )

Next sunny day and the next time Andreas says what about this, can we jump on the idea? I feel bad I missed the chance on Sunday and chatting with Skip and Frank. I think if a F1 lunch, dinner or whatever could work it could be as fun as what the Wisconsin drive sounded to be. Even if it was something as simple as going out one afternoon to throw down some foreign beers that relate to a particular country hosting a particular race.

What does everyone else think? Do any local establishments show F1 races anyway?

    Thanks for the compliments !
An F-1 lunch or dinner sounds like a cool idea. I don't know of any restaurants that come to mind that might offer an F-1 race on a big screen as most "sports bars" in the area show baseball or football events. If anyone came in and changed the channel it could insight a riot.

Chicago Indoor Racing might be up to it if we pre-arranged it with their staff and showed up with enough F-cars in their lot, although their food bar is suited more for a lunch rather than dinner. Other than that we would need to find a restaurant with a big screen, and an owner or management that appreciates these cars parked in front of their establishment. They are out there, we just have to find one.
The FCA did sponsor something like this in 2002, called "Gavi Raduno" at a restaurant in Palatine (see pic below). The owner has a 550 and is currently an FCA member. I don't think he still is in the business though.
Italian Village on Monroe Street is another thought, but I don't think they have a big screen.

Lake Lawn Lodge-Delevan was very receptive to us parking in their courtyard, and very accommodating to our needs. I was told by a staff member that when we pulled up, guests inside ran to the windows for a look !

It's a very good idea and really worth looking into.

I am currently working on talking with some Restaraunt owners about having a Small Ferrari Show (as in,whoever wants to come! :) ) coincide with an F1 Race day. Need to check out all of the legal aspects and all. But,should not be a problem.... Keep an eye out. I'll post as soon as it's a go!!! :)

The only problem is any chance of Rain. If you promote something like that, you need to have Ferrari's show up,Rain or Shine...Anyone interested? As "Paranoid" as I am about getting my Ferrari in the Rain. I suppose that once in a great while will not hurt it. That is,even if it does Rain...

Also. Most of the Races are shown either very Early in the Morning,or,rebroadcast in the Evening. Not too many that are shown during the day...(Andreas????) Otherwise, would have to Tape a race early, then show it during the day....?

Quite true. I don't think anybody wants to get up at 5am to drive to a bar for a 6:30am showing.

However there are a few races inside our time zone: US GP (6/20), Canadian GP (6/13 and at the same time as the FCA party at the Fribergs) and the Brazilian GP (10/24). All in the middle of the day. So we would need a confirmation from the bar owner NOT to change to football (or I will go to the big house for willfull attack with a deadly weapon).

There are also the Japanese (10/10) and Chinese GP (9/26), but they'd be more like late Saturday night events.

Well,Skip,I meant as far as "Rebroadcasting" a Race. If it's just on TV,At the Time,it's not a problem. But,if we had to 'Record' it,to use as part of the Promotion. That is where I THINK that there COULD be trouble. I don't know for sure...My Wife has a Cousin who is an "Entertainment Lawyer". So,I will just ask her.

Likeliness of actually getting Caught doing it? Probably none. But,a Restaraunt owner may not want to put his ass in a sling....

Normally,at the end of any Production, they say (something along the lines of...) "No Rebroadcasting without the expressed permission of..." (Speedchannel? F1? in this case...) So,I don't know. But,I am sure that it really wouldn't be a problem.

I was thinking of maybe doing it at a Restaraunt, that may "Coincide" with the Appropriate GP. Brazilian GP? There is a New Brazilian Restaraunt that just opened up at Butterfield Rd. and I-355.In Downers Grove. (Andreas could do an F1 Dinner there, too,if he'd like) Or,at an Italian Restaraunt for the Italian GP,especially. Have a Ferrari Show,at an Italian Restaraunt, showing the Italian GP. Sounds like fun to me.

True, you can't rebroadcast in a public forum. You would never get caught, but as you say the restaurant owner opens himself to lawsuits and wouldn't want to do that. Learned all that when I looked into it for my own movie.

Brazilian GP would work. By then Ferrari will be Champion anyway and we could all get smashed.

Italian GP wouldn't work as it will be early as well.

Yes,thats what I was thinking. Seeing as the Brazilian GP will just happen to be "On" TV at the time. No Biggie. But,If we'd like to do an Italian,(Ferrari) Car Show, along with the Italian GP. We'd have to record it when it is Braodcast early...preferably,on DVD. Then,Show it later in the day along with the Car Show. So,I will look into that, also.

Generally the only issues that involved with the "taping" and re-use of a program are if it being shown with an admission price (or cover charge) or if it is actually broadcasted, meaning that someone is making money off of it without sharing the proceeds with the original producers.

    Regards,
    Bill

Interesting. That would actually widen the scope of GP lunches we could do. And imagine a Speed Broadcast where we fast forward through the commercials: The race will be done in 40 minutes...

    Hey all,

Yep, that's my blue Corvette ragtop in Kim's photo. I tried to stay clear so you guys could get all-F pics, but I guess I ended up in the mix anyway. :) Thanks for inviting me out, it was a great time! Beautiful day for a drive and good food with good friends. No, I'm not a Ferrari owner yet, but maybe someday. I love the 355 & 360 Spyders, and the two that were there on Sunday were beautiful examples. Or if anyone hears of a 333SP for sale who'll consider trades let me know. :)

Skip, wish you could've made it, but understand your reasons. Hope to see you at the next one.

    Cheers,
    Dave

You know, someone could feel really hurt!!! Everybody tells "The good Skip Lollipop" how much they missed him, how much fun they might have had if he was there, etc, et al, ad nauseum. What about ME? Nobody missed me at all, you know ..... (whimper) (sniff sniff) (wheeze) a guy could really feel hurt by all of this, but it's OK, I'm (sniff) OK, I can handle it.................... OR?

    HK's and Prozac........ Hmmmmmmmm!

If it makes you feel better: Frank and I were actually talking about you at lunch and how much we missed the sight of the smoking car and driver.

    Yes,Bill,you were also missed...along with Bob,and Don,and Rocketboy,and Jack. Heck,if everyone showed up,we'd have run out of Road!!! :)

Yes,I also thought that in regard to rebroadcasting a show,it would only matter if there was an admission being charged.(There won't be) But,It will be "Advertised" as part of a Promotion...is that still "O.K."??

And,yes. Wouldn't that be nice to Rebroadcast it without any commercials....:) That is the best part....:)
