    The plate has minor pitting. It appears to be made of aluminium? It will not polish with an aluminium polish. Has any other members had the same problem? Ps. Sorry for clumsy posts

    That is an aluminum casting with a coating (plating). Not sure what plating - something similar to electroless nickel. The plating is not very thick so use caution.

    Other parts of the interior have similar finish eg the strip on the dashboard which houses the word Ferrari ( thanks Dave)

    Even when new, the finish on that trim is less than awesome.

    Yes .I agree. If you have any recommendations please let me know. ( although I’m in Sydney) Unfortunately you can’t buy the single replacement part. You have to buy the complete unit.

    If you want it pristine, best option would be to have a plater strip it, then polish the bare aluminum and re-plate after.
