    hi all

finally there is a poll about the future of the insane politics and religion section of ferrarichat. as many of us europeans think, this is a faschistoid forum of some well distinguished rightwing american members and almost no one of us is participating there, go there and vote for its removal: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35873

in my opinion this section sheds a very bad light on the ferrarichat community and ferrari drivers and may keep off newbies from becoming a member of our otherwise wonderful community.

just my 2 rapps from the swiss mountains.

I voted to have it removed!
I cannot believe that most idiots just want to leave it the way it is. It is insane to have such a section in a Ferrari-related forum. Knowing a lot of narrow minded American people I definitely think that this section will throw a bad light on this forum.

It is too bad that things like this happen. Maybe it is an idea to open www.Ihaveanarrowmind.com for all these kind of debates.

As a matter of fact, I don't really care because I never open those damn threads. And please, if somebody dares starting a thread about belgian politics I think we have a problem.

    Whatever.

    Wolfgang,

You hit the nail on its head. That is exactly the problem. It is a strange arrogance if you realize that the Euro is a stronger coin and that they are up to their necks in sh*t in the Iraqi war. Maybe it is just ignorance.

    You are right!
I did not want to start a political issue. I just want to show the frustration among non-US users of this board. But I totally agree that there is NO room for politics or religion on this board. Unless of course we would call the passion for Ferrari a religion.

What kind of announcement is that????
To a moderators post from somebody who:
    - is not subscribed
    - new to the board with just 27 post
    - and a poor profile

    @gordon,

No problem to discuss & always no problem to get constructive critism!
Constructive critism means ( to me!):
    - tell us/me WHAT you don`t like…..
    - tell us/me WHY you don`t like…..
    - tell us /me HOW to do it in a better way in your opinion

that’s what I call “constructive critism”.

    Ok, lets start it :

    @ Ton :

1/ First, if you read my few posts you will know more about me meaning :
    - my real name
    - what my ferrari is with pictures
    - where i leave
    - my job

What more do you want to know ? And I will not upgrade my profile because I hate filling profiles. Sorry, it's the way it is. I would perfectly understand you do not want to talk with me in that condition. No problem.

    @ Wolfgang :

1/ I am not posting a lot, what is the problem ? Is there any minimum post per month I should achieve to be able to express myself about a forum I joined more than one year ago ? On top of it, not writing doesn't mean not reading, and obviously I read more than I write.

2/ No I am not subscribed. But didn't know that this had anything to do with my ability to express myself. If I can't, you should not enable non subscriber to post. If you do, dont criticise my opinion because it comes from an non subscriber.

3/ Why I did not subscribe. Complex thing but probably the principal is that as you can see I am not as fluent in english as most of you are. And that they are not mamy french speaking personn on the forum. We already had the discussion at the beginning of this european section. Decision was made, subject is closed, no french section, which I reapeat means no French here. Can be a good thing finally :) But foir me it's makes me read rather than write and it makes me a non subscriber rather than a subscriber. Is it right or wrong I don't know .

4/ My post was a friendly post and a friendly advice to lock the thread and I thing Ton took it this way. I feel strange that the flamewar is initiated by you a moderator who is in charge of moderation.

And YES, i repeat, you should lock this thread because it can only derives to politics and there is no point to handle it on this section. Sorry I am not a moderator but I still have opinions, this should not be a problem for you.

Finally you know I come here to have fun, share passion, meet people, help people if I can, in one word having a good experience. Today I just have a boring experience where I have to justify myself .

    :(

    @gordon

    Jean,
thats not that I don`t know you – yes we have had some posts and discussings in the past and last year.
Yes, we do have a French speaking section here:
    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32963

“……I feel strange that the flamewar is initiated by you a moderator who is in charge of moderation.”

Where have I started a flamewar????
    Please enlight me on this.

You and everybodys opinion is very welcome.
Don`t get me wrong and I don`t care about how much posts, subscribtions, long time member…a.s.o.
If I can see a profile, saw/read a few hundred posts from a user…I know who is talking
and got a bit feeling for him and his way to post & express here.
(you see, my english is also terrible – but I try to explain myself)
It’s the way of construcrive critism I`m missing in your post.
    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=134488327&postcount=19

No, we do not close the thread `cause we do not discuss about politic – we are discussing about an old problem:
“Do we realy need a P&R threat at ferrarichat.com”?
    &
“Is this an only for US gents forum”?

Please, take the time to go thru some older posts.
I`m fighting since a long time to delete the P&R thread and I always take much care to keep the european section 100% clean from all this P&R BS stuff!

Sorry and my appologize, I didn`t want to bother you!
And you realy don`t need to justify yourself – just explain yourself (constructive critism)

    Both people relax!

I think that in both cases the influency in the language creates the problem. And Gordon believe me, this is NOT a flame war! If it is you will notice. I know Wolfgang already for many years! :)

    Gordon,

I don't understand the stubborness that you don't want to fill out your profile. Of course it is not an obligation. But on this section we want to create a more open approach. The people usually know eachother from meetings or other opportunities. We like to know, in contrast to the US majority, who we are talking to. We show real interest in the people. We just want to make it more personal. If you choose to do it different than that is your own choice but I hope that you understand that you stand alone in this on our European board.

The language is not a problem. I think that your English is very good. You have to understand that English is the second language for most users in our section. We don't look for imperfections in a sentence. As long as we can communicate we don't really care.

Another difficult item is the moderation. If we don't moderate we will lose control of our section and will find ourselves not longer enjoying the site. Nevertheless moderating is not easy. A moderator is always looked upon with a different set of eyes. People watch his/her moves more securely waiting for a chance to give strong criticism. You have to understand that a moderator cannot do more than his/her best and sometimes has to take impopular decisions.

We don't mind strong opinions or arguments, but we don't like it from people who don't want to show themselves. I think that this is what Wolfgang tries to say.

Nevertheless I would regret it if this gives you a negative feeling about this section. I think that we are an enthousiastic group of people who have one big passion and that is Ferrari! We like new people to join us and share the passion. We don't look at nationality/religion/etc.,etc. For us everybody is the same.

So again welcome to this board. I hope that more people from France will join our group after you. Enjoy it to the max.

    Ton

IMHO politics does not belong in here!
World wide web is huuuuge and there must be other forums for politics... I think Fchat should be without that!

    Just my two cents :)
