By far the most common source of errors. Very easy for an honest person to inadvertently get inaccurate hp, and for the unscrupulous to sell an improvement in an "after" dyno run. Because we are talking about an unusually high "before" number, I am leaning towards an honest mistake. The errors tend to give MORE hp because of the overcorrection (imho) in the intake air temp tables. JM, who has spent way too many hours on dynos late at night.
It's Peter's 355 challenge, with a Motec on it. 240kw is approx 322RWHP, so it is right in there with chaa's and mine, which both come out at 328. The 6 difference is easily attributable to different dynos on differnt days.
Oh, I did not notice the "kw"....I thought it was HP!! Still good in my book. I thought motec would help it more than than that? I guess that factory has squeezed out almost everything. I think I will make an appointment with the local dyno to see where mine is at with the hyperflows. That would give me a decent baseline before I start making exhaust/intake mods.
i have 5HP more than my bro in law's 355CH with standard engine management..otherwise, all the same....so motec=waste of effort with my car as far as i can see (glad it was already on the car when i got it)
Wow, I guess one should concentrate on the hardware when trying to get more power. ie exhaust / intake.....
I suspect that the motec would come into its own once significant engine hardware changes are made, such as cams, turbos etc
I should get my 355 back in a couple weeks, and when I do I'll run it over to Harmony's shop and we'll see how mine matches up on his machine. I am a completely unbiased observer, and I have never been to the shop before, but as with most of you, I would LOVE to get more power out of my 355. My car is completely stock with no modifications whatsoever, so it should give some indication for comparison
I would kinda hope that they would do the dyno run gratis for you, as it would not only be a nice gesture, but would provide a lot of goodwill here.
You can tell them to chalk it up to R&D expenses - whoops, guess they have to sell another unit to pay for it! I would be interested in ur impressions of their shop and people too. You can just PM me rather than post here where they can read it. Anyone else want to be on that distribution list?
there is no way HELL that car has 360 whp unless there are mods done inside the motor no way or the dyno must be reading from the crank. It does not take a very smart car guy to know this.
Well we were trying to be slightly diplomatic about it. But you got it on the $$. That is what we were all thinking
All I know is that my car definitely does not have that kind of rwhp, so we'll have to see. I will keep you all posted. I should get my car back next week (I hope), and then I'll pop over there. Ideal would be to have that 355 there as well so we could dyno back to back to see a direct comparison under similar conditions. And if the other one does have 365 rwhp, I'm gonna sneak back later that night and do a quick engine swap -just kidding-
