What are the proper clamps for my car? In 14947 (very low milage and basically unmolested) the larger hoses connecting the radiator are clamped with Cheneys, the medium sized clamps for vacuum/heater etc have clamps marked either GEM or GEMI (I can not tell) and the really small ones are unmarked but look like the medium sized clamps with the same yellow tinged plated screw housing and a stainless strap. Any insights? Also where do I find the GEM or GEMI clamps? Michael Bayer #9727 & #14947

Ian Thanks - those are Cheneys and as mine on the larger hoses cladded, however the multitude of the smaller clamps (the carb to carb lines for example, have very small, yellow cladded body/stainless strap clamps that are 3/8" od max) the medium sized clamps are of the same make and thus I assume must be also from the factory, Michael

DUH!!!!!!!!! I finally looked at my parts manual, did not realize the manufacturers are sometimes listed, it shows all the clamps as "SURFLEX" (no Cheneys on the radiator) now where the devil do these Surflex clamps come from? Michael Bayer

    Hi Michael,

you can find those "Surflex" clamps in bag quantities from companys like Wurth or possibly Newco Products. We have a couple bags of them at the shop I will look on the bag and see where they came from

365gt2+2 takes at least 2 cheneys (for the top radiator hose clamps). the vast majority are something called "ANGST-PH" - any ideas Zac, on what they are called? Bowdish said he saw a bunch @ GT Car Parts in AZ

Angst is clearly the German word for Worry as we all know, and PH is the code for Phillips. So together it means someone named Phillips will worry a lot about these hose clamps.

I held a bag of 100 in my hand today of the tiny surflex style clamps today, they are a german brand and have a different stamping but placed properly you can't tell. you can find the proper surflex clamps from a Peugot parts dealer as they were used on many French cars.

To answer Bryan's question the 365 2+2s use wire style clamps on the heater and all but the upper radiator hose. these clamps are not as easy to come by but are very similar to what was used on all early American cars I just have not figured out the best place to get them. I saw Bowdish eyeballing my stash when he was at my house but unfortunatly I have none to spare.

As we all know Napa hose clamps work just fine and the correct clamps have no effect on clamping the hose better it is purely nerd obsession to have the proper clamps for car shows.

on almost all Ferraris from the mid sixties on the parts manuals are incredibly detailed and if there is a question on what bolt, clamp or nut should go somewhere that is the first place I look.

Zac: Thanks for these insights! BrianP, it is self inflicted............ Wrong body -3 points, improper clamp -1 point each, without these clamps the Queen could be in negative territory - with mine!

CONCOURS: Completely Otherworldly Notions Concerning Our Used RideS

My 330GT was once judged against a 275 GTB 4 Cam, at Reading the C/4 was against 4 Daytonas - a Spyder and the Carbou hotrod, one of the Daytona owners actually brought a polish boy who detailed the car for him on the field. We are so outspent............M

I once saw a guy at Concourso with three strippers in matching uniforms buffing on the cars all day, I haven't seen it again doubt the organizers were impressed.

Zac: After I received the note from TomS I knew I had to get serious, so I set about getting the proper hose clamps for the 330 before Thursday. I found a guy with a complete set AND a key fob for a Dino all for only $5,000.00. They have made the engine compartment look terrific! BrianP do you still want those authentic Champion Spark Plugs I have for the Queen? I am willing to part with them for only 100.00 each? Michael Bayer

deal - w/ 2.5 days left to concours, it's the price I'll have to pay for correct plugs.

OR, if you're interested in a barter; I have those little aluminum flags/tabs for the ends of the AC lines (impossible to find) - $250 each and I'll think you'll need 4 of them ... .

    I need to know immediately

@ $100/pop, the plugs had better come w/ the original boxes, or I'll tell TS that your "cad plating" is nothing more than Rustoleum.

OK, we give up! We tried to bait you guys with the $5K Dino key tag fantasy and the imaginary $100 Champions but alas no one took the bait. Hope to see you on the field at the National Meet Thursday, Michael Bayer
