I finally got to put some miles on my new 348. It’s been at the mechanics and the detailers since June and out of commission since it rolled off the trailer when I bought it in may. Anyhow..

Along the drive the previously functioning HVAC panel began to flash and not accept inputs. The flashing seems like it corresponds to a relay (click) in the engine compartment. See video here:

The other issue is that it really fights me during a hot start. I was able to get it started once, but not a second time. Also note, the hvac panel works fine with key turned to accessory. Both of these things in video below:

Any thoughts and/or prayers are appreciated.

Check your "hidden fuse" isn't in the process of melting causing a unreliable connection. Its in the frunk buried down near the air conveyer box. Just search for hidden fuse on here

Hot start problems are quite common but since fitting the WR1 kit many years ago I've never had it since :)

When you turn the car off when it is hot, does it have a rattle sound? If so, hot start issue can also be Voith needs repacking. Could also mean triple seals and possibly also clutch plate and pressure plate flywheel contamination as a result from prior owner. Had to replace the whole stack and flywheel on mine from that. You can see pics of the damage triple leaks ca cause in my repair thread somewhere in there when I did the Voith. All easy to do fortunatly.

There is an HVAC troubleshooting process from the front panel. Could be worth trying that.

Best of luck chasing the issues!

    Just for clarification...

When you say it doesn't start is the engine turning over but not starting or do you just get a 'click' and seems dead (bit like when your batter is flat).

If its the former one other possible cause is the crank sensors.

The clock flashing 0:00 just means it needs resetting. If you set a time using the 2 dimple buttons below it does it get lost and goes back to flashing 0:00 again? If so something is breaking the connection - usually the "hidden fuse" but may just the connection between the loom and the hvac panel. Try taking apart and reseating it plus check the hidden fuse.

However, the video does appear to show teh HVAC panel blanking out when you attempt to start the car???? Are your connections to the battery secure?

The fact the engine is turning over implies its not something that would be fixed with the WR1 kit.

Have you checked you get a spark and fuel? If you let the car go completely car does it start up fine or is that intermittent too?

Do the ignition coil packs show any signs of cracks/discolouration?

Might be tempted to change the crank sensors too.

Sounds like a timing issue. Can you get any stored ECU codes out? You would probably get a clue there.. Crank or phase sensor would be my first to check. Also the wiring to those components.

When you have a hot start problem, try it with a gear engaged (and the clutch pressed, of course). If it then starts easier, it will confirm that you need to re-grease the flywheel.

Id investigate before adding that in, may not be needed and could be a few other things. Some much easier. Check the wires on the crank sensor they can become frayed or can be contaminated with oil.

Your car cranks over fine. Cant see how WR1 kit will help this particular starting problem. Its really for when you turn the key to start and nothing at all happens. Its a good mod to do though as lots suffer from cranking issues. Preventative ....

Quick note on the Bosch relay upgrade. I finally got around to installing one on my car last year and it works as stated except on two occasions after the car had not been started in long duration ( like several months during winter) it blows the 15 amp fuse that comes with it when I attempt to start. Replace the fuse and alI was good again. I now carry a spare fuse just in case but it works fine when the car has been in recent use.

Not normal, no. That's what mine looks like, that's not my car just a ransom search but mine is identical to that. Maybe yours is super sun faded just there perhaps? Other side the same?

This begs the question: how many different “tan” interiors did ferrari offer at the time?

One. I have a large roll of new Wilton wool to put in and man it is NICE. Plush thick dense pile like the 355 was. The 348 carpet is just awful and really brings down the interior feel. It was not color fast to it fades and turns brown/mustard. Maybe someone used a carpet cleaner on it and stepped the color. I bet that's it.

You can check parts diagrams to confirm but I think it is added? The 328 had that cavalino on the ashtray from factory in roughly that location.
