it has to be the black one that is real, if I was able to own a real one, I would not have to brag with the license plate on the red one :)

Black. Headlights, bumpers and exhaust look wrong on the red one.

The red car is the fake. The front part between the wheel arch and the bumper is wrong.

Manny: have you seen Jack Castor's LWB (in HMB)? He's got the bumperettes off and it looks FAR better.

IF there is a fake (and they both look real to my uneducated eye), then it is the red car. Why?

    1) Everyone knows that Ferraris only come in red. No one, who was careful enough to make a repro, would paint a it dark blue.
    2) The springs on the red car look a bit high, as though the original body was lighter.
    3) Both cars are on California plates though neither was originally registered in the state (they would be wearing black plates with yellow letters/numbers if they were). The blue car’s plates were made some time between early 1969 and December 1989, the red car’s plates are of this century, thus if one is an newly made repro it must be the red car.

The red one is a replica based on 250GTE s/n 4487GT. It was seen at both Concorso Italiano and Laguna Seca during the Ferrari festivities in 2004.

    -Jarrett

BTW, there are several dark blue California Spyder replicas out there.

I guessed the blue one, the wheels on the red one look too chromed/polished for a cal spyder.

Anybody know what shade of blue the paint is?

I wouldn't have been able to guess this as I am not at all knowledgable about older Ferraris.

Just wanted to post to say thanks for the pics - I love the look of the Cal Spyder - it is timeless elegance personified.

I particularly love the curves near the door.

Here are two blue Cal spyders at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concourse
