    I've just started to restore an old car.

    Do you know of any good specialists who can re-chrome car parts in Southern Scotland/North England?

    I live in Selkirkshire.

    Hi Mass, there are really only 2 companies in the UK who really know what they are doing with restoration for chrome - i'e triple plating & correct polishing/finishing before chroming, one is in Yate, Bristol (who I use), the other is in Derby - I know it's the Midlands rather than the North, but you won't get better than these guys (they are NOT cheap - but do sensational work), Derby Plating - tel 01332 382408.

    Just used this chap in Manchester...

    One man band and delivered on time as promissed and to budget. The finish is good and he claims to copper, nickel, chrome (3 stage process).

    He was less than half the price of the big boys which does worry me but the car I am restoring will live a gentle life and didnt warrarnt the £3k+ I was being quoted (its a Daimler 250 v8)
