I mean more like this FIA gives wrist-slap to Mercedes, Pirelli | Auto Racing. Those dip**** engine tokens isn't going to help anyone when you're that far back cause of stupidly written rules.
Fair enough and I guess who the FIA gave more freedom to with their rules is more interesting than finding out who's better at designing a stupid car. F1's double diffuser affair a Mosley 'lesson' for McLaren and Ferrari
Yeah I just read that article too. I think RedBull and now Merc were given a payback so to speak, by the FIA. I can see Honda getting something similar being that they were willing to come back in during this era of stupid rules and embarrassed themselves badly. I don't see many other manufacturers lining up to join. Sad really.
I dont think Enstone team had a bad car last year, granted they had Mercedes power, and I think its a fair to assume that their financial situation held them back a bit. Granted that there are still some issues with the Renault power unit, but I still expect them to have a top 5 car, and with a quality driver might even be a podium contender.
Doubt top 5 to be honest. Merc, Ferrari, Williams, Red bull are easily ahead. Toro Rosso has solid engine power and probably will have another good chassis, and 2 great drivers, Force India made a big leap forward last year with their new car. Top 5 will be very difficult for them.
I think Alonso will give McHonda one more year and then jump ship if they flame out again. The fact that teams are still interested in his services must be encouraging for him; not so much his teammate who has been contemplating retirement on and off.
Yes but look at who's interested. Why jump out of the frying pan into the fire? Merc has also said Alonso is an option if their guys don't play nice but I think that was more a threat to LH and NR than reality. Not that it wouldn't be interesting to see, lol.
Fred is a professional ship-jumper. Certainly, Renault has had more recent success than Honda. Besides, Fred was bested by Button as often as not. And Button is an established McLaren driver. Why not jump to Renault where he would be paired with a screw-up or a rookie. The stumbling block may be that Fred is in some way contracted with Honda. McLaren/Honda could use the cash that Renault would have to fork over to get Fred. I say, jump Fred, jump.
I think Button will recommit to F1 and his decision to do so might be the reason behind his divorce. Due to F1, he and his wife barely saw each other and didn't live together. I wonder if she was hanging on for his retirement and then when that didn't seem to be happening they split up. All the best, Andrew.
Six years with Renault (two stints) and five with Ferrari and he's a ship jumper? What was Fangio then? Also, what races were you watching? Button was usually slower that Alonso. There were so many issues with the car i don't remember either of them getting too many clean stints without some sort of issue. FA's car broke down 7 times plus he didn't start the first race compared to five DNFs and one DNS for Button. Hardly "getting bested". Why not jump ship? More like why should he? That move makes no sense.
I think the point is it seems with Alonso as soon as he joins a team there are rumors he's already looking to go somewhere else. And, quite often, these rumors come from his own mouth-- and then are "denied" by the same mouth.
Fred has 2 good years left. He's going to waste one more at McLaren. What happens after that is unknown territory but Ron Dennis wouldn't mind if he walked. If Fred pulls his same antics again this year as last, Ron is going to blow a blood vessel as he clinches his teeth.
I don't remember too much of that when he was with Ferrari other than when he actually left. And this year, who could blame him?
I give it another year...this year, and if Honda shows no improvement, I won't be surprised Alonso will jump ship again.
Hope Alonso doesn't change, i would rather see him wreck Mclaren than renault, lololo, of course, if he jumps, i do hope Mac Honda get it together and Renault sinks down the toilet!!
My wife, for one, if she ever got the chance! My only consolation there is that'd free me up for Jessica. All the best, Andrew.
