wow thats great.
Spoke to sales manager today, 2011 ZR-1s@invoice and 2010's@ -3k back of invoice with rebates....Which is $11k off msrp. So far the Z06 is looking the best to me but the sales manager is telling me the ZR-1 is best value per dollar.
Objectively I agree. However, subjectively it depends on what "value" you place on having the baddest 'vette in town (un-moddied of course) and truly a supercar performance-wise. If you can "afford" either, which by that I include the depreciation curve, I say go for the ZR1 (no hyphen in the new ones). That said, I'd spend the $$$ on a Fcar first, but that is partially driven by the fact I've not yet had the joy of 4re ownership...but I've owned several Chevys. PS Don't know if this is any value to you, but ZR1 purchase includes driving school:http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-zr1/

I have always been a fan of corvettes (have had a couple over the years), and had the chance to drive the ZR1 when it first came out was very impressed. This might sound sinful on this board but I'd take one over a 458 in a second. I no longer race, or track my cars and in the REAL world (unlike a Lambo or Ferrari) vettes do the samething without the constant pain of being noticed (which I truly am tired of) The woman I am involved with has a yellew vette (she would get noticed in a UPS truck) and around here people barely pay attention to it. I am considering getting rid of the Gallardo (after I put it back to stock form) and getting a Z06 myself. Good luck.
Everyone says to buy the ZR-1 if you plan on keeping it stock but buy the Z06 if you plan on doing some mods...I looked into a STS TT system, for $13k the Z06 will have 630+ whp and run circles around the stock ZR-1(from what I am being told). I am not a fan of torch red but the blue Z06 sold, msrp on red Z06 is 81k I offered $69k after I left dealership so tomorrow I should hear back from them.
I am not sure the lady (she is a former power lifter and has better arms than most men, and out lifts them so not one you want to piss off LOL) would like her pic up on this board, and after of 35 years of doing mods to cars, I am done with it. The Z06 will do fine for driving around here, unless I want to rear end a Range Rover or a Bentley doing 35mph. I never thought this day would come but I have finnaly become a realist about cars, and in the real world (at least the one I live in) you can only use a fraction of what sports today are built to do. I am also considering a Caymen S which I think might be the best all around sports car built today.
That is true to a large extent. Thats why I prefer race cars over sports cars, I can go as fast as I want w no worries When I do get my ZR1 though I will dump that tupperware interior and replace it with a nice caravaggio interior full of alcantara & leather I think my next car will be a Jetta diesel

Out of curiousity is this ZR1 a deal at this price with these miles?
w/ a 100k warranty prob not. But make sure this car hasnt been all over youtube! where are you seeing the carbon edition for 14k off? Im told there hard to come by.
Did'nt find it anywhere, called another dealer in Macgregor, TX and he said they had it on the showroom floor....The sales guy called it the Carbon Edition 1 out of 500 but a friend of mine said it was a ZO6 with the CF package as an option. Here is the car: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail/photos/multiPhotoPopup.jsp?paId=363019758&tracktype=newcc&aff=national#4 $83k and some change out the door...I have found a ton of ZO6's around, many are sitting on dealerships floors unadvertised.
Be careful on the specifics, looks like the sum of the options is less than the whole. from http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/10/2011-chevrolet-corvette-z06-carbon-slots-in-right-below-zr1/: "For those who don't manage to get one of the 500 Carbon editions, most of the good bits will be available as part of two option packages available for 2011 models. The Z07 package provides all the mechanical goodness of the Brembo brake system, wheels and tires and the MR suspension. The carbon fiber package includes the splitter, sill extensions and rear lip spoiler. Unfortunately, the hood is only available on the 500 limited edition cars. The Carbon and new option packages go on sale in late summer at prices that will be announced closer to launch date, so stay tuned."
the CF hood is kewl. To bad it isnt a avail for the "regular" z06. BTW you guys hear that Chevy is offering free driving class for new vetter buyers? Not bad.
The situation is worse in Europe. I was thinking of maybe cashing in on the Recession and getting a Gransport 'Vette targa for a big discount. Yeah right.... here are the leasing terms. Price new with options 98,000 CHF. 40,000 down, 2000 a month for 24 months... Yep... that's a residual value of 10 grand after two years. Basically, it was cheaper to lease my Gransport (170,000 CHF car) by over a 1000 per month... I told him that if he actually wants to sell cars... he needs to first stop digging.
Be aware. I have dealt with this dealership before and they are not to be trusted, IMO. They have several customer complaints on line. The are a volume dealer so they will not pay you much attention after you pay them. I would only accept this car and pay for it if I was at the dealership and visually checking out the car myself. I would then send for a truck to get it out of there as soon a possible.

Someone drug test that guy!
Went with a friend of mine today to a chevy dealer. He is looking at a suburban for his wife. There were 2 2010 zr1's on showroom floor. Salesman said they will sell them like nothing on internet. Yep sure...............
At some point I could actually see something similar where you pay MSRP and get a cheaper car like an Aveo or Cruze for free just to move the cars. If you think about it, that might not be a bad deal for Chevy as the profit margin on a ZR1 is probably more than the production costs of a Cruze.
