Did Maranello come with adjustable coil covers?
Coil overs? Never heard of coil covers. Ride height is fully adjustable on the 550s and can be set/measured a couple of ways.
Interesting. I have heard that when adjusting "coil-overs" (threaded shocker cylinder with nut and spring, adjustable), then you have to "weight-in" the car to make it have the right amount of stiffness of all the shock/springs relative to each other fwd / rwd ..... How does this work out? Anyone knows this? I have no idea, but I have been told that it is really important to make the car stable etc... Thanks.
Yes, it is all adjustable. Books are written on this stuff. First decide what you are trying to do...
Corner weighting is very valuable on race cars, less so on street cars. On the 550, setting ride height correctly is close enough with 75 kg in each seat. You can do that using values at the inner flanblocks or by measuring and setting the distance between the spring collars. Adjusting ride height necessitates adjusting camber and toe at the same time.
GS- Aspect ratio of the tires? All the details for setting ride height are in the WSM. For FHP, they actually give you the spring perch L1 length to give the correct ride height. Taz-Sorry I should have been more clear. I'm asking how many millimeters is a full turn on the shock, and how many millimeters on the adjustment equals one inch of ride height? That number has to be somewhere. I thought someone here might know...
