It is with very great sadness, I report that my dear friend Jim McNeil (former owner of 3647 GT - for over 54 years) passed away last night. He is survived by his wife Sandra, and many friends. Jim was truly an all around great person, a great friend, and certainly a true car & racing enthusiast. He had an amazing encyclopedic knowledge of Ferrari and so much more...

    Rest in peace my friend,

    Marshall

Oh WOW.. I just saw this. SOOoooo sorry to hear this about Jim.
I met Jim a number of years ago at Bridgehampton racetrack during a FCA event there. (I'm guessing in the early '80s) I had my 250GT LWB "TDF #1127GT there.
Jim introduces himself to me as being a prior owner of a TDF. #1127GT, MY car!!
He commented as to why he sold it. Had a 2 car garage in the '70s, in that garage sat 2 Ferraris, a 250GTO and this TDF (1127GT), one had to go, his choice was to sell the TDF and Keep the GTO...
And now you know the rest of the story, :) He'll be missed.

Such sad news. I met Jim at a weekly Sat cars and coffee held at a race prep shop on Long Island which I was invited to about 20 years ago and attended weekly for a good 15 years even as it moved locations.

He was a Gentleman in the purest sense of the word. An encyclopedia on Ferrari, fabulous stories on his car passion and the cars he owned.

Condolences to Sandra and his family.

RIP and say hello to Mark.
