    I chose:

"If you can dream it, you can do it"

While I was at the dealership speccing a new Ferrari, I basically had to pinch myself. It was a dream come true. The plate is a reminder of how far I've come after the decades of grinding (with a pinch of luck thrown in here and there) and more importantly, how far I still have left to go.

I haven't stopped dreaming. There's still so much more to do.

I've said this before ... I feel honored to be part of the hardworking and lucky few who get to park these works of art in their garages, and more importantly, get to drive them.

Great , mine is on a similar thought . My dad and my father in law both avid Ferrari passionate. Drove and serviced them but never had the ability to buy one. So our dedication plate is to them :)

BTW even after 3.5 years im still inching myself :)

    Awesome Spec. Love it!

I see on your personalization plate that Rosso TRS is "Off Catalogue"
    • How much was TRS?
    • Did TRS cause your 18 month wait? (I know it is only speculation)
    • How would you compare it to other metallic reds (Portofino or Cohburn)
I have a very similar spec still with the chance to change.
I too don't care for Mugello (too maroon), Fiorano (too yellow/orange), Rosso Metallic (Not enough metallic)
    • Rosso Portofino ($30K) (I figure Portofino might not add 12 months. IDK.)
    • Yellow Calipers
    • Grey Standard wheel
    • Ti Lugs
    • Cuoio Daytona with Black inserts
    • I also got the passenger display. :)

It did not appear that Rosso TRS added much delay if any to my Pista Spider build. Note that it is has a bit of gold flake in it so gold calipers over yellow I really prefer. It’s an amazing red.

It's a bit of a controversial option for sure as if there is a 'next owner' it will be a bit of a PITA to deal with my dedication plate. They will have wished I didn't choose that option :)

Should I decide to sell, I'll switch it with the generic one that just says F8 Spider.

I wonder if I can get it engraved? I’ll just put the quote from Enzo Ferrari “You can’t describe passion, you can only live it.”

    Thank you.
    • I believe the option was around 32K
    • There was some extra time added to get the color approved (I changed my spec from Rosso Corsa Metalizzato). Perhaps a couple of months.
    • Compared to Portofino or Coburn, TRS is a brighter red and looks more like the traditional Ferrari red. Also, I don't think TRS is a metallic paint but rather a mica paint (4 layer)
NOTE: I have more recently seen photos of Rosso Corsa Metalizzato and it too is a good option. It does a better job of accentuating the lines of these cars than Rosso Corsa does.

Of the 3 and 4 layer reds, I considered the following:
    • Rosso Formula F1 2007
    • Rosso TRS
    • Rosso Magma
    • Rosso Coburn
    • Rosso Monza
The only one of these I saw in the metal was F1 2007. It was beautiful but had a hint of orange to it. Rosso TRS seems most similar to F1 2007 without the tendency to sometimes look orange. It's more of a true red. After going back and forth for a while I decided I didn't want one of the darker reds (which look more like a red wine color), and this ruled out Coburn and Monza. Magma is a Maserati color and I ended up wanting something found more exclusively on Ferraris. All of these colors are quite stunning though, especially in the sun.

This was a leap of faith since there were no paint samples to look at. I spent a lot of time looking at videos and reading FChat threads.

There were some interesting threads like this one:
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/dont-spec-rosso-corsa-and-here-is-why.631325/

And the Pista Spider picture thread:
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/488-pista-spider-picture-thread.582673/page-25

    Darker Metallic Reds:
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/darker-metallic-rosso-colors.614745/

If you want a red that looks obviously differentiated from Rosso Corsa at first glance, then I would NOT choose Rosso TRS. Rosso TRS is like Rossa Corsa++. Rosso TRS is for those that want a more "traditional" Ferrari red but want more depth/richness to help accentuate the lines of the car. When you put the two cars side by side, you can immediately see the difference but most onlookers will assume you have the standard red (especially if there isn't a Rosso Corsa car around for contrast).

Rosso TRS on the left, Rosso Corsa on the right. I believe the car on the far left is Rosso Portofino.

Rosso TRS looks a bit more like wet paint.

If you want a red that is more differentiated from Rosso Corsa, then you may want to consider one of the darker reds like Coburn or Magma. This may work well for you since you're going with yellow brake calipers and cuoio seats. The darker reds seem to go very well with yellow and cuoio. Seems like you're building a more elegant spec so perhaps darker works.

If you want a bright red, then TRS is a good option.

    I hope this helps

Please let us know what you decide.

Also, the red stripe on the Pista Spider is Rosso Coburn if that helps at all.

Even a custom made one from a machine shop will be only one tenth of the Ferrari price :)

With all the great reds available today the Rosso Corsa just looks too dull.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

The best metallic red write up I have ever seen. Your picture with the Portofino in the background may have helped seal the deal.
I think I am going to stick with Portofino as I love the candy apple / metallic rednesss. Really appreciate your through response.

Beautiful cad! I’m waiting for my coupe from the same dealer. Just wondering where you went to get the ppf+ceramic?
I’m between ocd, premier, and force field. (Recommended by our dealer)

Good grief - what a spec. I just wish I could see that color in person.

Thank you, Mike! Congratulations on your upcoming Tributo. Looking forward to seeing your photos.

I live in San Francisco. I went with Protective Film Solutions. for paint correction, PPF, and ceramic. They are attached to Issimi (handle all their cars).

They did my 458 and Huracan previously.

Very nice congrats! I just got my allocation last week, very similar spec… Rossa, black painted rims, daytona seats and all carbon inside. Had to bring up my options to $100K in order to get my dealers attention. ETA is Nov 2022.

Thank you and congratulations on your allocation. Yours must be among the last allocations granted considering the order books closed late last year. Kudos. Please do post pics when your car arrives. Sounds like a great spec.

nice! Thanks for sharing, I’ll check them out.
You’ll have to share all the spots of where we can take the car to. One of my personal biggest worries esp living in the city!
