Hi everyone, I have searched but haven't found anything on what life 360 steel rotors are making. I know about the wear marks but if the first wear mark is starting to wear out how much life do the rotors have left and what are people finding the whole of life mileage to be. I am looking at getting some Girodisc rotors to hold as replacements, any one running them want to comment on their experience. It seems a great idea to have an ali hat and then just replace the pad facing rotors, plus the weight saving.
Hard to answer mate. Ive seen cars go 20 yrs without touching/machining the disc rotors. Some people wanted them skimmed on EVERY brake pad change, every few years. Some we would only skim when there was an issue or you could see/feel a lip building up on the edge of the disc. Obviously, it all depends on how hard you are on the brakes. Ive had my Ferrari 5+ yrs now and the rotors, pads front and rear are still like brand new. New pads fitted all round before I got the car. I dont go too hard on the brakes and I have driven 7000 km in that time.
My buddy George put them on his 360 and loves them. Here is the thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=195426 My car went well over 20k miles on the oem rotors with Porterfield pads and many track days.
