A nice looking SA, in Paris. Wonder if/what it will fetch. http://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=3243++++++68+&refno=10617189
Darius- An HGTC, but somebody has replaced the mufflers with something else. Looks like a nice SA. Description is out to lunch, since the 575M, SA, and 612 had exactly the same size engines. Plus the SA engine is different from the 612 engine, even though the HP is the same. The SA engine was effectively hot-rodded, while the 612 engine had manifolding and ECU differences to make its hp.
Lorenzo- Do some reading in the 575 technical thread and maybe you will get the point. So far you are zero for two.
I was wondering if it was an HGTC, due to the wheels. Interesting that the auction house hasn’t noticed this. From the description, it could be taken for a non-FHP, non-HGTC example. Somebody reading this could bag a bargain.
Darius- The HGTC modulars were standard on all SAs. The easiest way to tell if a 575 has HGTC is the brakes. In one photo you can clearly see the 6 piston calipers and yellow Brembo decal, plus the huge 398 mm rotors. Standard calipers are 4 piston and only have the Ferrari script.
The auction is actually on November 5, sorry. Lorenzo, I capisco Taz's original punto as follows: it's an HGTC but doesn't say so (which is remiss), and the SA and 612 achieved identical power and torque figures from Ferrari through different means that the manufacturer has never revealed. Which, given that this is the world's definitive conversation board on the topic, and Taz is its most distinguished contributor, is a punto worth making. I'd be interested in knowing the answer, if you or anyone else has it.
Darius- I can tell you how they did it on the Superamerica, but not completely on the 612. The Superamerica WSM gave a breakdown on how they upgrade the engine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see. Could you in theory easily swap a 612 engine into a 575? Sorry if that's been discussed before.
Darius- Some of the ancilliaries, like the intake manifold actuator and linkage, were swapped around, but that could be fixed because late 575M and all 612 intake castings had bosses on both ends. Would not be very difficult as long as 612 Motronic DMEs were substituted.
Darius- That would get you part way there, but the heads on the 612 and SA both had the intake ports increased in size to match larger runners in the intake manifold and provide increased airflow. Similarly, just swapping 612 DMEs for the 575M ones will not get you the full 540 hp without the head and manifold size increases. Adding Sergio's headers would provide much better flow and more hp.

This is mine, you can contact me directly and I will sort out out with the dealer. I am 2nd owner and have owned it for 10 years and -10k miles . I want to find a good home for it and am reasonable on the price. PM if interested. Mario
Darius- I meant Fabio. Where Sergio came from, I have no idea. Probably the blown up root canal I just had. Mario- That is a very nice Superamerica. I would have saved the window sticker, but you wiped out the serial number.
Taz actually I was wondering whether Sergio was secret code for Fabio, whose name was deleted last time I tried to post.
