It will come along but I wouldn't wait too long as prices appear to be rising. Maybe they'll level off over the winter, but my gut tells me that they will continue to climb as long as the US/world economy remains strong. I bought my Grigio Silverstone scud with 7000 miles on the odometer two years ago for $175k. I'm pretty confident that I couldn't buy the car now from a dealer with 12,000 miles on the odometer for that price.

I bought my 09 Rosso Corsa w 890miles for 209k in 2011. Now has 14k miles, do you think I could break even if I sold it today?

A friend told me he has brokered (bought) two 2009 scuds with around 8k miles in the past couple months. I forget colors, one was blue...he said both were around $220k before tax and delivery costs. He said prices are definitely up from 7 or 8 months ago, and sellers are not coming off their asking prices much, like they were earlier in the year. fwiw

I think today, you would have no problem getting $190 to $200. It's resale red... ;)

Here's another data point - I was offered 190K for trade in value on my 2008 RC with stripe (7400 miles). This was for trade on a used Huracan.

I agree. Only thing is these prices we're discussing are dealer prices. If we're talking trade in or independent sale, the sales price would likely be a little less.

Not bad right? After close to 5years of ownership I drove the car for free pretty much, not that I'm even considering selling ;)

Back then many people said I overpaid...

Yah pretty awesome. Similar situation with me...mine has actually appreciated a touch despite the miles I have put on.

Saw a black Scud without stripes on Mugello today... I didn't really knew, that there are cars without carbon fiber headlights and carbon fiber steering wheel. This one hasn't even got lights on the steering wheel and the dash was partially wrapped in cloth fabric, rather than Alcantara or leather.

So it seems, that the Scud had a lot of options when new. Aren't they making any impact of the price too?

I'm sure that you do. But if you love it so much, why did you try to sell it so many times?

I have some Ferraris that I absolutely love and I can't even stand the thought of selling any one of them.

No kidding ;) But the interesting part, is prices are finally starting to ramp up...he was just a few years early in his pronouncements... the market is finally starting to catch up. In another year, he may get the price he is looking for....who knows?

Sorry, I didn't realize this was a "thing." I was simply asking a legit question.

If I really love a car, I don't ever want to sell it, even with massive price increases. My F40 and 550 Maranello, and 348 Challenge have tripled in price since I bought them but I'm not parting with any of them. I bought them because I love the cars, not for the chance to make some money. If they go back down in price to what I paid or even less, it won't bother me one bit (I'll try add some more).

When someone says they really love a car but will sell it if they have a chance to make a few bucks, it is hard to not be a little skeptical. I'm not saying that I'm right and I'm a mind reader but I've been around the block a few times and this is just where I am in my old age.

I have noticed that a lot of you bought the cars high and still love them the same and don't care that prices have dropped and others bought low and don't seem to have plans to sell. That speaks a lot to me. Kudos.

I sell cars that I love frequently. I do it because I have a set budget on how much money I put in to my cars, if I want to try something new I have to move something out of the garage to replace. It would be great to have unlimited funds and space to house all the cars that I have owned that I loved, but that's not my current reality.
I would also sell a car that I love when its value in the market is greater than my perceived value of holding it, usually that means I can sell it and get two more toys etc...
I am sure there are many other reasons people have to sell cars they love.

    Bas, it's not you hehe.

scuderia09 has had a colorful past on fchat particularly around over-inflating the value of the 430 Scuderia. As someone has already mentioned earlier, it looks like he isn't crazy after all, just a few years premature on his projections ;)

His persistency in the past as I remember it is admirably epic, and I appreciate the entertainment value it brings to the forum.

There's nothing wrong with selling a car to buy another. But if it's the car that you love the most, why would you sell it to replace it with a car you love less? So that point, I will argue that you can really like and really enjoy a lot of cars but you can't truly love them all. There's nothing wrong with buying and selling until you find the car(s) that you truly love that won't sell for the next new thing.

I love mine, but I would absolutely sell it at the right price. I can't think of a single car that I wouldn't sell if the right price came along. It just means a chance to enjoy something different. Life is short.
