Hey Jimmy, As for helping the engine breath better. You maybe have this already but, have you considered running a long rod set up? The bore and stroke stay the same but, the length of the rod is increased by moving the wrist pin higher up the piston, and shortening the piston. It gives the piston a little more dwell time at tdc, and bdc, and is supposed to help with higher rpm breathing. It will also give you a better rod to stroke ratio. The other thing is to have the quench pad in the head smaller on the intake side and bigger on the exhaust side. This forces the compressed air/fuel mix to the thrust side of the piston and is supposed to help with getting a more complete combustion burn, and expulsion of exhaust gas. It can be done via piston shape, or combustion chamber reshape. Just a thought to pass on to your engineers, if it hasn't already been discussed that is.
I passed this on. They've already done a lot of modification to help and we found a bit more HP. We'll also be running a roof air intake which should give us about .2 Bar of help.
Hey Jim, are there any renderings of how the P 4/5 M would look with the roof scoop, new lights and such
It's in the works. As soon as I'm happy with them I'll post them. Sail and roof scoop will be ready for our race on October 29Th. New nose next year.
3 months without internet has left me out of touch so any insight/knowledge of the new happening's of P4/5C would be great. Best to all and thanks, Gregg
Well, the brief update is that Jim and P4/5C are still as cool as ever. More specifically, they're working on (pinched/rearranged from Jim's post above): LMP1/F1 Type sail Roof inlet for engine air Re-engineered suspension Re-engineered chassis - they did some cool chassis testing if you scroll back Different brake pads redesigned interior redesigned seating and head protection AC Redesigned defrosting/heat Larger Fuel tank Relocated fuel filler Larger engine air restrictor More weight as per new class and air restrictor Larini/Giovanardi Other Drivers TBD Tire development and testing Rear Reflective treatment to make car more visible. Redesigned nose with larger lights (Next year) KERS (Possible Next year) Team Gear will be for sale. Pit Babes and Boy Toys for all unmarried Fans and Team members Also, P4/5C will be competing again on October 29th! So now you're up to speed. All the best, Andrew.
Right on Jimmy. .2 bar comes out to 2.9 psi., that's nothing to sneeze at. It's gonna be interesting to see how much that helps you guys down the straights.

Sweet; I'm going to get a hat. What's the super secret FChat only "voucher code"? P.S. Any chance you/they can do a black hat? Also, I'm more of a visor man if it matters. P.P.S. I live in the land of heat and humidity so I need a hat and visor that wicks and is breathable. P.P.P.S. Did I mention I'm a high maintenance (and cheap) customer?
