I tend to prefer buying my cars from authorized dealers, so perhaps the combatants here won't care what I have to say, but: Rick: Your company is developing a reputation here for being less than forthcoming in your descriptions of cars. If that's your business plan, it's up to you, but this is a tough crowd and you're probably going to be called out every time. Roy and Kevin: You can't win when, as a competing car broker/dealer, you contest the veracity of another dealer's ad. Even if you're factually correct, it just makes you look bad. I love the dramas in the Lambo forum.
I'll pay for your plane ticket and put all my money on Jim. Youre a really tough guy behind the keyboard. I wouldn't mess with Jim myself and I spent most of my life in the military.
You mean this one from my forum "96 Lamborghini Diablo VT...Story...99K". There I got again hiding stuff
I don't agree. We sell a ton of cars and have a great reputation. If someone brings up negative information about a car we have I look into it. We are really ramping up are Lambo sales. We sold four in the last month. Keep an eye out for great deals!!!! Rick
Thanks for the tip. With out the protection of my keyboard, I guess I'll have no choice but to come in unannounced. Upper cut always works best. In all seriousness, if it was 25 years ago, the issues me and some of my friends had to deal with transacting with your outfit would be handled the old fashioned way. My family since have gotten more civilized. BTW, the stereotypical view of a car salesman even in this day and age still has some truth in it. We all know what that is! Some things never change.
Having spent most of my life with the type of alpha males you don't mess with. I know from experience that the talkers are the usually the ones that end up on the liquid diet . Sorry you harbor bad feelings. Maybe all you need is a hug!!
Ray is Roy and Roy is Ray....i think. Rick on the other hand thinks Ray is Ray and doesnt know that Ray is infact Roy. Either way, this thread is a daft pi55ing match.
i am with! at 80k i take it, as long as it runs good i am going to remove 150Kgs of weight and make it a fun track-road racer Diablo
A hug is not necessary. Truth and disclosure however would of been nice at sale time. You just don't get it. There is a proven history of less than honest deal making that goes on and on. I will not disclose any thing on Fchat, but any member of the Fchat community can PM me for more details.
I'm not taking sides but regardless of a dealers reputation you should use all means to investigate the background of the vehicle. If you suspect a bad reputation, then due more investigating but don't let it be the sole reason for stopping you from having the car you want especially if it's at the right price. After all look at all the bad stories you hear about Florida dealers, but I doubt ever car sold in the state is a shady deal.
Exactly. You can make some people happy some of the time. You can't make everybody happy all of the time. Cheers Rick
It's not about making people happy it's about dealing with the purchase from the facts and leaving out emotion. The opposite to this thread would be buying a vehicle from a "perceived reputable dealer" and getting a lemon. Just because a dealer has a great reputation you should still do your homework.
If you look at my forum. I have one car, a Lambo, listed with a notation that it's a "story" car and another "Lambo" that was sold that I let people list issues that were found on a past PPI. I never hide anything on purpose. If I don't know then I don't know. If someone claims a car of ours has past issues I send it to a shop to be looked over. Anyone that's ever called me on car has heard me recommended an independent inspection. I try and sell cars. I am not a psychic, I don't have a crystal ball, the car doesn't talk, etc. etc.
if gary b. says the car is right priced @ a given price...i would suspect it is so if he is really looking at the car and makes an honest apraisal. i further suspect it will be good enough for some. i do hate how for sooooo many dealers, rare cars are often just cars. i do dislike the the web jousting though but i think there are times we can fall into it. pcb
I think we should just add the following disclaimer to all SCC vehicles...it should solve the problem and nobody will be able to say anything negative about them anymore! SCC WARNING: The use of ANY adjectives, such as pristine and stunning, might not accurately represent the vehicles condition. In fact, the vehicle could have been flipped, flopped, crashed, banged, wrecked, stolen, painted on or pissed in. The miles might be right but the odometer could have been unplugged, rolled back, replaced, removed, or have another image of an odometer super imposed on our ad picture by mistake. The vehicles condition could be original, but more than likely its not. Customer acknowledges and understands they might loose alot of money in either repairs, at trade in, or lawsuits from passengers or innocent bystanders if and when said vehicle wrecks, comes apart or explodes. WE DONT GUARANTEE NOTHING! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
And what if that member hadn't come forward with the PPI results on that Silver Diablo? One would think that, as a salesman, you would know your product prior to using terms like "showstopper", "stunning" and "pristine" to describe it. Just saying.
This stunning SE30 has been fully inspected and no significant issues were found. We repainted the front bumper and will provide a full major service to the new owner. This car is priced at $149K, which well below what others SE 30's currently on the market are advertised for. We're confident that this SE30 will pass anyone's inspection. We invite any prospective buyers to have the car inspected at a dealer of their choice.
In order to finally end the discussion about the exact differences between the US and non-US SE, I had a look in the Diablo SE parts catalogue and this gives a nice overview of the different parts used (note that there is not only a difference between the 'normal' SE and the US SE, but also a difference with the cars that were delivered to Canada, Switzerland and Japan). Anyway, this is a short list that shows all the different parts for the US model: Right and left cilinder heads: Plugs, cilinder heads, valve seats, intake valves, exhaust valves Intake manifold: Inlet manifold Electronic injection units: ECU Rear differential: Bevel set Radio set: CD reader, radio Accessories: Owners book, SE owners supplement, kit bulbs Dashboard instruments: Speedometer (miles) Tunnel pannel istruments: Switch panel, fuel cap button Electrical system: cables, ECU GFA, relay case, relays, fuses, remote locking ECU Fuel system: Gasket, tank cap, case, strap, pipe, union Lights: headlamp, reverse lamp, license plate lamp, front and rear sidemarkers Fuel cap: Completely different model as we all know Coque elements right flank: For the different fuel cap Frame floor panels: Frame, right and left shelf pane Doors: Elect. cables and apparently, the doors are different Passive restraint belts: different model Passenger compartment trim: Left and right dashboard panel, dashboard panel, handle, right and left utility holder, left and right fin Bumpers: Front and rear bumper External rear view mirrors: left and right mirror Obviously the most interesting here is that this confirms that there actually were DIFFERENT valves used on the US model. Hope this helps
