Prologue video day 1/2: pure sound, no commentating. Oddly the GT's sound louder than the P cars. I just have to go to Portimao or Spa, maybe Le Mans Wednesday practice, I know I will go nuts when I see the 499P run in person.
Still think the Peugeot looks the coolest. That Ferrari better win as it sounds as bad as it looks!! Cadillac sounds the best IMO. 911's best of the GT cars. 296 IMSA should be there also. Will be at Sebring in 2 days to see in person.
Calado crashed the #51 on his out lap in the morning session, serious damage, out for the day, ouch....
That's nothing new. I remember years ago when Audi was running the diesel prototypes, when one of them went thru turn 1 at Road Atlanta you barely heard the engine, and yet it was the fastest thing on the course! On the other hand, the GTs, especially the Porsches, were rather raucous.
How close to pushing where the hypercar/lmdh cars? For a detuned LMP2 to be just 2.6 seconds away annoys me as a spectator, but even more so considering the much higher cost relatively to LMP2. They really should turn the power up on these engines significantly IMO.
Double check your guides. The regular, non-streaming Motortrend has the race on my cable service (Comcast). Will be watching, I hope. Then flag to flag on Peacock Saturday. Fifty-three years since I was there for the famous Andretti vs. Revson/McQueen cage match! Have the pit pass button and the entry list sheet too. Wish I had something other than a Brownie Instamatic. Got a lot of blue sky and the rear end of cars! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lucky you! I wasn't there but a family friend brought me the poster. A bit worse for wear now but still a great reminder of the era.
What a fantastic result after 50 years away. The smile he had when he got out of the car priceless Now they just gotta do the same for a 1000 miles more
I don't pay too much attention to qualifying in long-distance races, but that WAS fun to watch. "Fuoco" means "Fire" and young Antonio really brought some fire to the Ferrari team. Now they just have to make the cars last for the distance.
If the 499P keeps running the way it has we are in for a treat. Ferrari and their partners have put in a lot of time and work getting the 499P here. Pole is always good nothing better than some clear air to set the pace plus easier on the tires till the first set of pitstops. Fuoco looks like he will make the most of that advantage too.
Ferrari did a good job qualifying. But Toyota has so much experience in endurance racing, and Ferrari has really none right now. Will be tough for them to compete over 12 hours.
